I will add any videos I take on there. It's an old channel with some other videos but now I'll edit to be for the Jag.

If anyone has questions or anything feel free to ask here. Most of the items have been covered already over the years in the great forum.

My jack doesn't fit under the front of the car lol. So had to jack one side. Put it on a 2.5 tonne stand. Then lift the front up to put my two 6 tonne stands under it. Think I may buy some ramps eventually once I get it running. Less pain of an ***.

Well got the oil drained and that damn filter off. Had to break it loose with a screw driver lol.

There is something leaking somewhere from the front. I'm thinking power steering pump. Mainly because I checked the fluid level and its empty lol. All other fluids when I checked were at full .

Battery is between 75% and 100% charged

Air filters didnt look too bad. Gave them a quick vacuum.

Also vacuumed the engine bay.

So just waiting for the oil filter to come in.

Also grabbed 10L of 91 octane today in case the tank is empty.

Next update will be this evening.

Pic for ***** and giggles.

Exhaust post while I'm waiting.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-204972/page2/

Eventually I want to exit in from of the rear tires. Love that look and have done it on other exhaust. And being an 88 I dont have to worry about emissions.

So I guess I need to find UK headers? Or is there another option

Busy day! The new struts for the hood game in. Got them installed. Gave wife back baseball bat. Also changed the oil/filter, put battery back in. Took out a nest I found under the cruise control in the middle. Pic

Filled the tank with 10 litres of 91 octane with some fuel stabilizer, injector cleaners, and octane boost added.

So I put the battery in, checked all the lights etc everything works, windows work.

So I got the wife to turn the key on to se eif the pump primed. At first it sounded like it was running but no fuel. Then a 2nd time i heard the fuel going through the lines. So primed 3 more times.

This was the moment.

Turned the key. It took a few tries but she basically fired right up!

I let it run for a minute and it actually seemed ok. Turned it off. Unblocked the wheels cause I wanted to move it out of garage and try the brakes. So went back into the car...battery dead. So I'm gonna get a new battery asap so I can stop worrying about that.

Pretty proud of myself. I'll get a video of it running on the weekend after I get a new battery.

Thanks to everyone who has come before me as searching and reading these forums has helped me to this point. Now that I know the engine turn over I can focus on getting it running and not leaking and cleaning it up and then turning it up

Cheers

The caravan (or trailer) light comes on if a trailer is hooked up to the electrics. (some models had a trailer hookup socket in the loom in the boot).
the other one is the bulb-out warning light. This should come on, as a test, for about 15 seconds when the lights are turned on, then go out. If it stays on then a side light bulb is out. This warning light will also come on if a brake light goes out.
As another test for the warning light circuit itself, if the handbrake is on (handbrake warning light illuminated), and the ignition is on, pressing the footbrake should illuminate the light.

Congratulations on the start up! I found several nests and piles of acorn shells, etc in my car when I started going through it.
even found some under the carpet padding adjacent to the transmission tunnel.
happy little critters, I’m sure.

Thanks. I picked up a new battery today so I'll test it more this evening.

I do know all the lights and signals work as I had enough power to test them. I'm not sure if the parking break works. Doesnt seem too

Good to know. I'll be taking out the interior once the snow flies. Trying to get engine work and stuff done before that so I can move it around my driveway.

Yep...
that was my plan too. That is until the main wiring harness caught on fire, and moved the interior up on my schedule.
some things you just can’t plan!

So got new battery installed. These two light are on after starting. I understand the fuel light for low fuel. Only got 10 litres in it. But is the other one the water level in rad?

The overflow reservoir (pic) is full but who knows about the rest

But I got bigger issues at the moment. Next post

So the transmission seems to be stuck in reverse only. No matter what gear I put it in. So I looked in the manual for adjusting the shifter (maybe it's out?) And doesnt look to bad to do. Is there anything else I should look it?

I'll be googling as I wait for responses.

So got the center console apart. Everything looks good. I should note we had it in neutral when we picked it up and was rolling it around. To get it into the garage. It's only after getting the engine started that this seems to have happened.

After dinner I'm going to jack the car up again and see if I can see the linkage. See if I can see it moving while my wife shifts the gears.
