Next winter... love to build one.
Basically laid out the old one and traced/replicated it. Time consuming but I don't want to make a mistake especially since I'm doing so much stuff at once.

I am using this pic as reference. It has the original colors as a lot of mine was covered and grease etc. So I kept it open on my laptop as I worked.

plus since either using better wire and different colors I wrote down mine as well for future stuff if need be.

I only had 6 colors of wires. 10ft each. If I were to do it again I would just use 2 colors and grab 30ft of each wire.

So I got what I thought was another stant superstat 45398 , ordered off Amazon.ca as that was the description, and got it today. Well it's another Motorad 45398. Does not match the one stant superstat 45398 I was able to get. Look way back at my post about it.

I know motorad/stant is the same company. But its obvious the same product number does not me same specs. Really pissed me off as this is the 2nd time I've ordered a stant superstat 45398 and I've gotten style and the people are claiming it's compatible.

So now I have 5 thermostats but only one is that correct style.

I cant seem to find it anywhere and I've lost faith in trying it again.

So to added to my comments about the stats. I measured the stant one i have and the gates one i have. the gates is 1mm bigger opening then the stant one. the gates ones are easily available. another one on the way. Gates 33188.

FYi stants are not made in usa now and they are made in israel is come with jiggle pins where the old ones did not

So I have taken a few days off from working on the car as my backs been bothering me so I went down the rabbit hole of figuring out what wheel/tire combo I want. Well I figured it out. I was originally thinking 15 x 10 on all 4 corners but I think I am going to do staggered now

Im going to go with:

Fronts - 235/60R15 - 15 x 8 0mm offset
Rears - 295/50R15 - 15 x 10 0mm offset

Wheels I am looking to get if they are still available when its time to pull the trigger

https://www.canadawheels.ca/american...k-w439821.html

For tires it will be either the Cooper Cobra Radial GT or Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T, depending on price and availability at the time.

Also custom hub centric rings for the rims to fit

Purists will hate it but that's ok.

I plan on doing some sort of fender flares / body kit anyways. not crazy like the 13 inch wide rear 10 inch wide front listers. mainly because going over 10" width limits options

I have no view on looks; but rim diameter size is a very important consideration. 15 inch tyres in the correct speed rating are becoming very rare indeed. I would go for 16 inch rims in whatever style you like, as the correct tyres for that size are far lore easily available and much cheaper.

I thought that too going 16 or 17 but when you go to a wider 15 (so 135 plus) it actually opens more due to a lot of American muscle cars using those sizes. Once you get to 17 end up with 30 to 40 sidewall sizes which I don't like the look of.

as for speed rating the tires I'm looking at are good for 112mph /180kph which is plenty fast. Most hwy limits are 100kph here and if you get busted 50 over you lose the car for 14 days, 30 day suspension, and good luck with the 5k fine and insurance afterwards.

I doubt I'll ever even be on the hwy with it or just for a short jaunt to next town.

I have my motorcycle if I want to get er done. 😈

I have later model 16inch rims on mine and am happy with them.
255 / 55 / 16 inch all round.

But i have to say when you see modern rims like 17 / 18 / 19 inch they do look cool.

I do love the look of the stock 15s but its the width I want. 6.5 inches isn't enough.... so my wife tells me anyways

Finished the wiring harness. It's a nest but labeled.

So now onto the manifolds

I got a busy weekend but hopefully I can get them apart and cleaned at least.

Forgot to post saying my other gates stat came in.

And of course the design is slight different since this one is made in France lol. But I measured everything and it's still the same just looks a little different. These companies keep switching their sources lol.

Very frustrating

Throughout the car hobby I'm hearing the same complaints. Buying parts is hit-n-miss; you never really know what you're gonna get.

Cheers

Everything has been OK when ordering except those damn thermostats.

Anyways I got the manifold stripped down. I left the fuel rail together as no sense taking it apart yet until I'm ready. Will just be more stuff in the way.

I plan on putting blanks on these 2 spots

I got to make a template and get someplace local to make them for me.

I also read in one of the stickies about the FPR. The one on the B bank is left and the one on the A bank that looks like one but isn't can be removed.

Things I need to ordered/get:

The 2 x little bushing that hold the TB arm. 1/2 OD 5/16 ID

Couple of gaskets for the blanks and the back ones too

I want to replace the injector nutz with acorn style. Need to find out what they are. I think they are 1/2 x 18 or 20 threads but not 100%

I think that's it. I'm off to Toronto to meet wifes family before they catch a flight for dinner and the night.

If its nice tomorrow I'll get to some cleaning of parts

Also debating putting in the butter flies from the 3.6 to increase. When I look for a shop I'll see if I can get the housings machined out.

Oh and funny story.

I had a dream last night about doing the body work on the jag. I plan on putting a wide body kit (probably one made for bmw or merc) but in my dream I put a front clip on from a newer model camero lol.

Nah back roads cruising.

You haven't been on North America's busiest hwy which is the 401. Which is the hwy near me lol. I avoid it like the plague. Always accident transports etc.

Unfortunately today I'm heading right into Toronto so got 2 hrs of it lol.

Got the manifolds cleaned up. Ready for prime and paint even though the aluminum looks nice I don't like bling.

I'm interested in what finish you end up with on the manifolds. I'm still undecided on how to finish mine on the pre-HE.

Cheers
