I had a couple of throat quinsy's (big *** abcesses in around toncils). Hospitalised twice in the last year or so to have them drained. Most painful thing I have ever had. So tonsils out and they found a lot of damage from an infection that has been lurking behind the toncils the whole time so they had to remove a fair bit of tissue. So any lifting or strain can tear the wound open and then a major bleed could occur.

Too far from a hospital out here so not worth taking the risk. Just relax for 26 days. Got the all clear yesterday and back to work tomorrow.

I felt like I should be able to do stuff a week or so ago, but the Dr knows best. He said it was the worst tonsillectomy he had done in 0ver 35 years in the field.

Glad you're alright. Sounds like a pretty terrible ordeal. One of those situations where you better do what the Doctor says, otherwise the consequences could be far worse. At least you got some "Rest and Relaxation", that is if you didn't go Stir Crazy!

glad to hear you're doing better - just take it slowly getting back into a routine - no need to rush things!!!

Is walking in circles in shed the "stir crazy". First two weeks I couldn't even swollow a beer while looking at all the things I could be doing in here.
I got a couple of small jobs done on the bikes like wash them. And on the side stand because I couldn't lift them onto the centre stand. But both road bikes and the track bike don't have a spec of dirt on them.

Great Job looks Amazing!

Please could you tell me what those Two Holes in the Rotors are for as the Rotors on my Car doesn't have them

I thought they might be for the Caliper Bolts but on my Marelli the Bolts come in from the Diff side, so don't know what real purpose they might serve

Hi Alex, on my 73' XJ6 and the 85' XJS they are the same for removing the caliper bolts. If I had known this when doing the XJ6 it would have made the job a whole lot easier.
Second time around it saved a lot of time. The first time I spent hours doing what Grant Francis would do ( having beers and contemplating the next move). But, then again that is what I do best, spend hours in the shed with a beer contemplating the next move.
I did it today, spent quite a few hours in the shed with a beer in hand and all I came up with was to roll up my tie down straps, put them away and put the bin out on the street.(to me that was a productive afternoon since niether of the jags needed attention)
Once you realise these things the job just gets simple.

Alex,

Waaaay back, there were 2 part numbers for rear inboard rotors for the XJS.

One for Dana diff, one for NO Dana.

The rotors are the same, apart from the Dana having access holes for the caliper bolts.

Eventually the manufacturers woke up, and Dana spec rotors is all that is now available. Simple economics.

Further to which, I have a DANA diff, and have over the years fitted several sets of rotors with the holes, only to find in every single case that the holes are too small to get the required socket through to undo the calliper bolts!
Hence my "poke an open-ender up from below" advice to you in another thread, Alex...

Yes that's a perfect description of Stir Crazy. You feel like a frog, on a hot rock! (picture that for a second). Just a little American humor. Sometimes I forget the language doesn't always come across they same. LOL!

366 days after ariving at Chateau Fireball , Goose is leaving us on a truck tomorrow to her new owners in Sydney, fully sorted and looking sharp.
Sad to see her go but $1500 a year rego and many other projects on the go I'm keeping the XJ6 because she is the favorite. Plus I never originally intended to fill the work bay in my new shed with another Jag.
And a tidy little profit along the way.(not often that happens with any car, let alone a classic)

Hey Clarke, You sure made her beautiful. That's one of the prettiest XJS' I've seen in quite a while, clean, and sharp. You've done well as Goose's caretaker. Now what's next? Did you ever figure out what to do with what's left of the bike?

Jack, the crashed bike is the donor for a 2 seater off road buggy.
Restoring an 83 GSX is next on the list for me.

Well sounds like you definitely have something to keep you busy. The Yammie doesn't look to bad with a set of forks, and wheel. Although the green wheel doesn't match worth a hoot.
Are you going to scratch build a buggy? Or have you found something that needs a little more engine. LOL! That 1300cc 4cyl Yammie ought to make it real interesting, to say the least. If I'm not mistaken, that looks like a GSX 750. I don't remember what year they went to the GSXR??? These were a little awkward in appearance, kind of the prelude to the "Crotch Rocket" styling that would come a few years later. Looks to be all complete, does it run? It looks like it sat outside, due to all the fading, but the seat looks perfect??? Well good luck with it. I guess you're all healed up from your "flying lessons"? That's what we Americans call it when we get thrown off our bikes. LOL! Take Care

Jack, Yami has a bent frame.
The buggy is a mates project, we have worked out a deal where we are both happy. He gets engine, harness, clutch and everything he needs for buggy, fuel tank etc.
I get brakes etc to up grade GSX. It is complete, turns over and has spark. I got a good set of carbies for it the other day so once they are on I will see if it starts. Hasn’t been on the road for 20 years, last started 10 years ago and ridden once around a paddock.
Genuine barn find, inside storage the whole 20 years. One owner, spent most of its 15 years on the road out in the elements 5 days a week. Seat was recovered a couple of years before it was parked.

It is an 83 GSX1100ES. Looks same as the 83 750. Not the model I was looking for but the engine is the same. It’s going to be a bit of a resto mod/ rat bike. Using what I can off XJR and NOS Suzuki parts where I can, shake it down on track days then road register it looking pretty much cosmetically as it does now.

GSXR750 first appeared 1985.

Still recovering from injuries, but done a couple of track days on GPZ😀
