Seats not moving

I don’t think that an ‘87 XJ-S has power seats; the switch that is on the console is the lumbar inflate/deflate. I don’t think power seats were available until the facelift…..
There is a bar under the front of the seat base to lift, then slide seat forward or back.

Thanks so much for the pointers. The seats indeed have the adjustment handle, but they are totally stuck. That is why I supposed on the buttons on the outside of the console would handle the seat movement. I can hear a motor in the seats when I press it, but nothing moves. So, knowing now that the chairs need to be adjusted manually, I wonder what the buttons on the console are for. I could not find anything about it in the manual. Any suggestions?
The other issue is how to slide those chairs. When I pull up the handles, I can feel something unlocking, but there is no movement. Any suggestions on how to slide them?

For the seats in my car, they move more easily if I'm sitting in them than if I'm reaching in from the outside and trying to move them. You could try spraying some lube down the slides. Don't go heavy with it, just a quick squirt.
Can you provide us a picture of the buttons you're pressing?

My closing message was to short the software said. So, here again: Thanks everybody for the advice. The seats indeed are manual and the electric buttons have nothing to do with moving the seat, but are for the functions mentioned above and work fine. I still need to lubricate the movement mecanism, which I will do when dealing with a few other issues. Thanks again!
