Default Should I jump right in ?

I run my own Mot Centre in South Wales UK and one of my customers came into my garage six days ago and told me of two Jaguars that needed saving following the passing of their owner or they were going to be scrapped by her family as they have been sitting quite a while and would need restoration. The first is a 1986 XJS V12 which appears the worst of the two and then there is a 1986 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 which I've been told was driven almost upto the lady's passing in early 2015. Being a Jaguar man I think that these cars shouldn't go to scrap and at worst be used for parts cars ( price for scrap here is about £40 per car ) and I'm sure they would go in complete into the crusher rather than be broken up !!! I already own two Jaguars but I'm tempted into saving these at a cost of £700 to me for the both cars ... I've got about a week to make a decision or the family have said they are going to scrap the cars in readiness of selling the house. What should I do ? pauljag ..

IMHO, I'd buy both and part them out.

I agree with Rodger, for that money you can't go wrong in parting them out.

All depends how far gone they are but the, until recently, Daily Driver good be an interesting car to work on/restore provided that there isn't a rust issue, but then again there is always gong to be the allure of the V12.....

Stuff the 12 into the 6 lol.

I'd probably keep the XJ6 and part out the XJS given what you have said about them.

Or make an autocross XJS if you have some spare time and change.

Were they here I'd take them in. No logical reason, except for my
regard for the "unloved".

Kinda like my choice of Coco at the adoption center. He, an older Mutt or a much younger Daschund, Reba.

As Reba had a better chance, I took Coco home. Complete bilateral l
acceptance.

He snoozes at my feet, as I type . Happy and contented, the both of us!!

The cue is rescue! Partial pun intended.
