Simple injector cleaning, How to.

lm resurrecting a 1982 V12 that had been sitting. Part of the job was the full fuel system refresh with the big kit from Mr Injector.
Firstly when removed i stood the injector up and filled with Seafoam.
Then i activated/pulsed the injectors to work some of the Seafoam through (7 needed the 'Grant Francis' tap)
l then let them soak for however long it took me to rebuild one.
l then hit it with spray as shown in the vid. l do it for longer, but you get the picture.
l dont think the big improvement you see in pattern is all cleaning, i think it is also the ''thicker'' seafoam being pushed out. HOWEVER, there was a marked improvement on most of them.
Not suggesting its an alternative for a pro job, but in pinch better than nothing.
Cheers AOI

lets look at what an injector is supposed to do !
just say you cleaned them all but maybe one or two were low on CC volume ,engine would start/run good, but on a high speed trip sustained for 1/2 hour or more, what if those two cylinders would run LEAN and cause detonation(hi heat combustion)?
maybe blow a head seal gasket, or worse drop a seat, especially the HE V12 engine!
but for all intents they may clean up, its all up to the luck, and many people have done the home cleaning procedure, with reasonable results!
the pro way is done for the ones who may race or drive hiway speeds for long times!
very hard to tell without things like exhaust cylinder to cylinder temp readings, or cylinder pressure readings!

Still, the originals, which had sat for 12yrs,,, needed the exact same treatment the OP is giving them. Also inspired by GF... I hooked them up to a fuel pump and from a gas can mixed gas, solvents, FI cleaner and what not. Fired it up and activated the FI many many many times each... Sometimes longer than the car would fire them... Worked fine. For a while they were all I had and they were in the car.
They are rugged contraptions. You're doing great work and yes, I think they will work just fine until you find your next right thing...

they did not make these type machines just to make money alone!
how are you going to measure the CC volume per minute, spray patterns can change with pressure changes!
OK that said ,, chances are good that engine will run fine for most of us, in normal driving conditions!
but an injector needs to be accurate when it reaches the high end of its performance envelope, thats when it had better be right for flow volume, but also its pattern shape!
like spray bouncing off the wall of the port and dribbling down in unatomized liquid, remember liquid does not burn well, fuel has to be VAPORIZED to burn in a smooth flame front across the chamber!
bare in mind it only takes one injector to ruin the whole engine! lucky that the Jag V12s are tough, rugged engines!

lve ignored you in the hope that you would go away, but you are obvious too self absorbed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your assumptions are unparalleled, your arrogance, getting there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This might be my first Jag, but after 40 years of wrenching there is a possibility i have a vague idea of how a motor is supposed to run, especially since (for a very good living) i source, restore, export and sell in Japan classic Japanese bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
l have obviously hit a nerve, as you found it necessary to ignore what i said about this method and come back THREE times to hammer home your point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lve got it, thank you, l have learned my lesson well done, i will keep my tricks to myself, i should have know better than to post something like that without 200 gazillon posts to my credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I for one am grateful as well. My knowledge is limited, but I read lots, scratch my head when something doesn't make sense and read more and ask questions if I still scratch my head.
Things I have learnt from this post, how to clean the injectors initially
Never new they had baskets in them, let alone how to remove them
Today is my XJS's first year birthday for me, I have learnt enormously over the last 12 month's, I think another 12 months to go before she is on the road. So please keep sharing
Cheers
Steve

Here everyone has something to add. There’s no ‘gotcha!’ Intended. But by the end of a thread about adding a relay to this circuit you may have learned what brand of pipe tobacco Mr Sayer preferred, and how he came by his dog. It’s all in good intention I assure you. I think your response to Ron probably has the most Caps I’ve seen in a year.
Thanks for the post! I’ve been using a fuel pump, regulator and fuel can. Your stub pipe and aerosol cleaner is way simpler.
