Starter Cable - Route ?

I'm making up a new starter cable and also replacing the alternator cable. I'm struggling a bit to find a way to get from the starter to behind the heatshield for the run up the bulkhead. I can't recall exactly where it routed between the bottom of the heatshield and the starter - wherever I put mine seems too close to the exhaust. Anyone have any pictures of theirs handy ? the original cable isn't that long so it is bending the mind a little.
I'm suffering major procrastination delay and disruption with this. I'm making this off in Silicon based 25mm˛ which is rated higher than PVC, I'm also using a fibreglass based thermal shield, I intend to invert the metal tube between the alternator and started - raising it into its original location closer to the manifolds seems absurd. I'm totally stumped how to keep the starter cable away from the downpipe of the exhaust.
My manifolds are ceramic coated inside and out but the stainless downpipes clearly aren't.
