Default Steering bushing recommendations.........

lve been looking into what/whos steering bushings i need for my V12 HE, im none the wiser and would like some recomnadtions please.

l can tell you what i dont want;

Nothing that is known to squeak

Nothing that is race car

...............................i would say nothing as vague as stock, but i dont know what ''right'' stock is, and i have a Lexus GX470, BMW X5 and a Toyota Celica Supra to go by so thats not much help. Perhaps something a little stiffer that the reputed stock feel ?

Thankyouverymuch

I have used the Poly replacements on all mine for as long a sI can remember.

Nolathane is the brand of Poly I have used, but there are other brands for different markets.

The OE "floaty" is not for me, nor is the rock hard feed back of solid.

The Jaguar Sport spec bushes are firmer, and still available as far as I know.

Since the rack is bolted into place there will be no squeaking, as you sometimes get from suspension bushes.

Wishbone inner bushes are a different subject totally.
Here I use ONLY Genuine OE Metalstik brand for the lower, and Poly for the upper, with no strangeness at all.

Sway bar, I use Poly for the "D", and rubber on the pins.

Jaguar used 'sport' bushing for the steering rack in some models. These are widely praised by many. I'm sure the part number, and lots of discussion, is in the archives.

For decades now the aftermarket suppliers have offered 'poly' rack bushings which are also very popular. BUT....some are low quality while others are good quality. it seems to me that for a long time (and perhaps still?) somebody was selling some orange poly bushings that we known to go all gooey after just a year or two. (I've had this happen) However, the red and black offerings were fine. (I've never had a problem with the black type)

I'm not sure that color alone can be the true indicator of quality or durability....but this ^^^^^ seems to be the trend over the years.

Cheers
DD

It's good to know a specific brand name

Nolathane does sell in the USA. For example:
