Default Steering whine/yawn sound

New noise... When I turn the steering wheel and go forward or reverse I get a whine/yawn sound ... I have no idea what it is. No warning lights are on... And the steering is not affected. Any ideas please?

First thing to look at is the level of the power steering fluid.

Where do I find the reservoir please? Is it clearly marked? I have a 94 6.0L V12. Sorry for being so clueless. And is there any specific brand/fluid I should be buying?

As far as I know the pump/reservoir location on your car is the same as the older V12s.....left front of the engine, sort of hidden beneath the left radiator hose.

To get an idea of what you're looking for see item #1 in this illustration:

Hi dborthwick,

As Doug says, the reservoir is on the left hand side under the air intake. The cap contains the dipstick.

Cheers

I'm having that exact same problem! This thread is perfect timing.

What fluid did you use? How did you know what fluid to use?

Thanks!

So you used ATF in your power steering reservoir?

ATF Dex/Merc worked like a champ! $6 well spent.

Perfectly timed thread...

Thanks!
