Took the car out for Sunday drive and stopped for some grocery shopping when a woman drove up and out of the blue offered to buy the Jag. She asked how much was it worth and I honestly told her I don't know what to ask since it only has 22,000 miles on it. She immediately offered me $10,000 cash and she would pick it up tomorrow. Honestly torn about selling it.
Here's what I know about any of my long-term owned cars: I know the history. I have age related maintenance done when it needs to be done, not because something failed. If you haven't done those things over time, then maybe you are looking at some big numbers coming down the line, and getting out at 10k now might seem ok. But if you've kept up with maintenance, then you have a pristine 22k miler. And a sharp one at that.
The problem is if you buy another classic type car, you have no idea what you are getting. Even if maintenance seems up to date, only ownership over time can give you the personal history on a car.
The data I keep shows me there were only 364 '95 coupes produced. Meanwhile, there were over 10x as many (3,700+) '95 converts built. And no 4.0 litre coupes were built in '96.
That means there were only 364 coupes built with the AJ16 engine. You probably have one of the lowest mileage ones out there.
I should have (we all know that phrase) kept my 1985, and got a
"quick connect" leg for easier access.
OOOOH the Jags I should have kept, gotta luv hindsight.
1985ish XJS here are now in the $20K and climbing. Your model could be counted on one hand total population, and when/if they appear for sale, $40K up,do the $10K makes no sense, MY opinion.
Looks like you tried to sell her in 2017, what was the price you were thinking back then.
Looks like you have also owned her for 6 years, so do you still feel the joy?
Your car looks mint, and you will probably never find another one like her, but 10k cash is a good starting point
I too have sellers regrets, but it was still the right decision at the time to sell my classics
Jaguar production numbers tend to be squirrelly...they must have been using an abacus at Browns Lane
Jaguar tended to use calendar year production, as Europe doesn't have the same concept of model years like the US does. As an example, that was how the first XJ40's were sold as 86 in the UK and 88 in the USA.
She called and I politely declined her offer. I sometimes think about selling since I rarely drive it and it just sits in the garage. When I do drive it though I love it. The solution is to just drive it more and not worry about it.
How many 94 coupes with AJ6 were produced? I have almost 200k miles with constant maintenance and new interior. Runs great! Prices are really starting climb on them. Mine is prolly worth 10k😆
That car is 25k car to the right buyer. Maybe you have owned your XJS for a while, but if you haven't paid attention to the market, you are thinking in 2k10 terms, not today. If I had 10k, and I would buy that car from you, and make double on bring a trailer. Please do not sell it. At the very least, sell it to someone here.

Make it your daily driver this year, think of it as a challenge adventure. I drive my XJS every day unless its snowing. So far that is 350 days a year, I absolutely wouldn't want to drive anything else.
