Default Thermal breakers for convertible rear windows

So, my passenger rear window (LHD), does not go up or down.

When grounding the trigger pin on the rear window relays, the drivers side works fine. The relay for the passenger side clicks, but nothing happens. I understand both sides are linked together.

I have to assume it is the thermal breaker for the passenger window is inoperable. See the attached diagram.

Where is this breaker? It is supposed to be on the right side under the dashboard, but so far I am unable to locate it.

Do I have to disassemble or remove something to access it?

See pages 42 and 43 of the linked document. They are on the "convertible top component panel".

Jon,

Thanks. I had this document, but had forgotten it had component locations. Sure hope itis the thermal breaker and not the motor

Typically, a thermal breaker will reset after a few minutes. There are two relays on each side of the motor in the circuit slso. You might try jumping them to see if the motor works. It appears the breakers should have voltage on them whenever the ignition is on, or maybe even constantly.

Jon,

I have jumped the relays for the windows. They all click (2 for raise, 2 for lowering).

But looking closer at the diagram, the relay solenoids themselves are powered by the thermal breakers. So if they are energizing when the trigger pin is grounded, that means there is power coming through the breaker.

I will try tonight to apply power directly to the motor terminal from the relay and see what happens. I just had the rear panels off to remove the hydraulic pump. Perhaps a terminal on the motor came off.

Cheers

Working. I was able to power the relays manually. Noticed when pulling one of the relays there was hydraulic fluid on one of the contacts for the window down relay.

That'll do it! Oil is a great insulator.
