my AAV hose fell to pieces and i was able to very easily bypass it. took about 20 minutes. just cap off the manifold where it ports in and then adjust your throttle body screws to set your idle.

I'll be working on that this week.

you might want to adjust your TPS again, once youve set your idle with the TB's

I'm afraid to touch it! It took me forever for it not to trigger a CE light.

I blocked my AAV off entirely. Even when temps have been cold enough to leave frost on the windows, the car starts right up. I give it a little gas with the pedal when it's this cold, otherwise it idles very low, but after a minute or so it runs smoothly.

We diagnosed last August I believe, my AAV isn't working. So I used aluminum tape over the hole within the air cleaner and used a pin to make a hole in the center, which was a band aid for the faulty AAV. It has been working that way since the summer. My idle is between 750 and 800, I can't get it lower this way and I will get a new AAV...maybe.

Today it hit 50 degrees, I haven't taken the car out since Sept 30. After a few primes with the key she started right up, I had to hold the gas pedal down to let her idle at 1000 to warm up a bit, when she did, she idled as normal all day.

I was thinking of a manual choke of some kind. Anyone installed one?

Here is how to make your idle control manual:
Replacing AAV with Idle Control Device

BTW, finding working AAV is hard and not cheap. I rebuilt mine long time ago with Volvo marine thermostat actuator, but now my warm up idle stays high longer. It takes my about 5 minutes of 1100 rpm, until it drops gradually down to 550-600.
