Default Took the plunge and bought an '88 V12 coupe

Good day,
So a follow-up post to my previous one regarding contemplating an XJS purchase.
Originally I had my sights on a facelift, 6cyl convertable. Obviously I ended up with a pre-facelift, V12 coupe, 5spd conversion.
But what a coupe!
As mentioned in my previous post. It's a TWR tribute car (150k km) that has been looked after and meticulously maintained by the previous owner over the past 13 years; a stalwart of the Ontario Jag owners club.
Picked it up this week, but limited chance to drive it so far.
Pic below is from the sellers ad.
Can winter be cancelled this year?

Hi,

Super looking car. Must be a great drive with the manual box. Do you know what gearbox it has?

Funny how we sometimes end up with cars that we were not looking for at the start of our search. I was looking for a facelift automatic and ended up with a pre-facelift manual - absolutely no regrets.

Cheers,
LeeP

Hey, thanks,
It's got a Borg Warner (Tremec) T5 World Class gearbox from a mid-80's Mustang................ Hang on!........ oh dear!............Exquisite English Jag pedigree tainted by Yankee gearbox.......... I obvs did not think this through enough
Yours is a 5spd conversion, or 1970's original?
Yeah agreed. I did prefer the rear end of the facelift cars. Much more contemporary styling. Also wanted a convertable as have never owned one. However the lines of the coupe are hard to beat upon reflection.

Apologies I thought it was a manual gearbox conversion, but I presume it has been converted to 5 speed auto? Sounds a great combination - the best from both sides of the Atlantic!

Mine has the original 5 speed factory gearbox which was made by Getrag in Germany for Jaguar and many others.

Cheers,
LeeP

I saw the listing for this XJ-S and she's a sharp car! Lots of attention to detail replicating the TWR features. Congrats!

Hey thanks!
At aged 16 I watched the TWR Jags kill the opposition at Silverstone in UK, so anything TWR related (even a 'tribute') has extra appeal.
Yes, the previous owner was very committed to getting things correct and it shows.

Lovely car, great colours. I saw a short video of it on YouTube when it was for sale. Looks to be in fantastic condition. Should be a sweet ride.

Thanks!
Its my first Jag of any kind. Handles very nicely booting it around corners with barely any body roll.
Throttle set up needs some fine tuning, but overall a joy to drive.
