Default Top edge of the door sticks out funny

Before I adjusted the latch on the b pillar, the top edge of the door near the b pillar stuck out about a half inch from the body where it should sit flush. Even after adjusting the latch, the door sits a little better but it opens with a rather harsh sound from the door handle that can’t be good for it, so I know I have to loosen the b pillar latch back up a little bit. My question is what specifically on the door hinges do I have to adjust to get that back top edge of the door to come in a little more. I’m trying to eliminate that pesky noise of air rushing past while driving down the road.

This is what I did:
You need a friend to help and a jack with a softwood block to support the opening end of the door.
You remove the ankle trim from the A pillar and you will see two oblong holes; these give access to the A pillar side of the door hinge nuts, three per hinge.
You remove the door panel and you will see the door side of the hinges nuts.
Supporting the door with the jack loosen the door side hinge nuts JUST enough, with the door nearly closed, so you can thump the door top with the heel of your hand. Your friend steadying the jack and door.
Nip up a couple of the nuts and try shutting the door.
You may have to loosen the A pillar bolts too and get the door right by a combination of the two. Also the height can be adjusted similarly so the shut line along the sill is right.
Continue adjusting and trying until the door is as you want it. Prepare for taking quite a time!

To fix the latch on the B pillar properly, align it VERY carefully with the slot it goes into on the door lock in the vertical plane. Once the door is right the tightness of the shut is adjusted by the in and out position of the latch on the B pillar.

Thanks Greg, helpful as always with the inf. I’ll be trying that this upcoming weekend with a few other fixes that need doing.

I agree with everything Doug suggested.
The only addition to that would be to remove the B pillar latch so it doesn't interfere with the door.

If you remove, as opposed to loosening the latch bolts, on my 1985 car the captive threaded fixing in th B pillar will fall to the floor and the only way to get it is to remove the rear seat and the trim on that side!
