Default The top to my 1994 XJS will not go all the way down.

The top to my 1994 XJS will close with no problem; however, when I want to drive with the top down, it seems to get stuck just before it is all the way down. From that position, it will close with no problem. Can anyone help?

By the way, in my last post I was asking about caliper bolts. Can you believe I found what I needed at a business that sold only nuts and bolts. Thanks for the help.

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to XJS forum. The Feedback & Suggestion Centre is for posts about the forum and NOT for technuical questions.

Sometimes the crossbar on the retracting roof gets caught against the seatbacks on the rear seats. simply push the crossbar away from the seatbacks and it should retract all the way.

Thanks. I will check that. It acts as if something is hanging up or getting stuck. As you can tell, Im new at all of this.

Hi Sherman

The Soft Top on my 95 does exactly the same, where the rail rubs the back of the Seat backs where as has been already said you just have to assist it down by hand

It seems to be a fairly common problem that over time you sort of learn to live with

The forward edge of my rear window hangs up on the rear seat and have to nudge it out of the way as I fold it down. I know this because at the moment, the pump is empty of fluid so I manually retract it. You should do the same so that you can feel the whole movement with your hands. Turn the bypass valves to manual at the pump/motor manifold and then retract the top by hand down to full retract. Along the way you can check every inch of the mechanism as it folds and see just why it or where it is hanging up.
