TPS Options - '93 4.0 liter
I have a '93 4.0 liter with a bad TPS. We're having a terrible time finding a replacement. Does anyone know if it's possible to use a TPS from a 4.0 liter XJ6 engine? Apparently my VIN is one of the "after" series that takes a TPS that no one seems to have in stock. Why couldn't we use a TPS from an XJ6 if it's the same motor? Help would be appreciated. Looks like we're going to have to go with a used unit until we come up with a better solution.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If its part number DBC2626 (from VIN 185820 To VIN 194774) you might have to get it used. Jagbits has it used for 250.00, but you might get cheaper. Or fish e-bay for a NOS part
If its part number DBC2889 (up to VIN 185819) you can get it brand new from Jaguar (jaguarclassicparts.com) for about 260.00 dollars plus shipping from England

The TPS units are the same from 1990 to 1994 XJ6 but the HARNESS CONNECTORS ARE DIFFERENT. There are round ones and 'squarish' ones. The earlier 1988/89 have only 3 wires because the gearbox is completely hydro-mechanical and does not need the throttle input.
You can get a Blue round plug TPS and splice the black connector to make it work. They were for the 1990 to 1992 XJ6 but as long as it has 6 wires (3 for the engine and 3 for the gearbox) it will function.
