Trunk emblems
I Just picked up my 94 XJS 2+2 from the body shop, where it was having a dent from the previous owner fixed in the lip of the trunk. The shop had to remove the XJS and Jaguar emblems. The emblems came off in one piece, however the adhesive is no longer usable. I was hoping to stick these emblems back on to avoid the $130ish expense of purchasing new ones.
Has anyone put these back on and if so what did you use as an adhesive? How long ago did you do it and have they stayed put?
Also, can anyone provide the correct measurements for where they should be placed?
Thanks.

i have an 88 so someone else would need to measure. Otherwise you want to use a tape because thats what factories use and it won't damage paint like gluing it would.
usually its die cut, but just trace and use a razor blade and you should be okay.
3M
something like that or maybe a little thicker depending on the badge and its edges

I purchased both from Jaguar last year and I think it was about $45.00. The silver finish had warn away, and the previous owner had painted them black. There was a faint outline where my old ones were and I just lined them up and pressed them in place. They look much better than the blacked old ones I replaced.

I had to reattach my XJS and V12 emblems not long ago. Many auto parts stores carry a 3M product for this purpose, basically a double sided tape for emblems.
Before I went that route, a local body shop put me in touch with a guy that laser cut new adhesives for the back of each emblem so I just had to peel the cover off of each and press them on. I think it was about $10 for both. A little easier than cutting the tape yourself to the exact emblem shapes. There was enough of a faint outline on my car that I didn't have to measure where they should go.
