Default TWR XJS Projects

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum but I have some very exciting XJS projects on the go at the moment.
I am currently 3D Modeling the car and have a lot of custom parts planned in the future.
I am also doing a complete redesign of the Jag V12 to bring it up to modern standards along with a supercharger kit.
I will try to keep some updates coming.

Let’s us see some of these renditions before you decide move forward. Slim and tucked is the way to go. Accentuating the long front end or giving it a heavier chin wont do either. I believe that chin spoilers are important, but the higher up behind the radiator gives it both form and function. A 3” chin spoiler done right allows for air to flow directly to the radiator as you drive. And it looks aggressive enough to make the car sit like its built for performance.

Will this model allow us to test drop other engines *cough*MercV12TwinTurbo* into the bay?

We will be doing CFD analysis so although we will be trying to keep the aesthetics at the forefront it will be guided by the numbers.
On the engine side, no reason why any engine can’t be dropped in but the supercharged TWR/Jag V12 I think will match perfectly in performance and attitude. I think we can push close to 700hp is desired.
We will also have a baffled aluminum fuel tank to fit into the spare wheel well and base of the boot and updated interior.

MercV12TwinTurbo - modern over complicated emissions riddled ****** bit like their suspension - besides keeping the XJS cool between the chassis rails is challenge enough - supercharged V12 sounds on the money for me if you can manage the heat, more responsive than turbo's and less hassle - would be nice to have the options - some normally aspirated V12's were getting up there but to get there is mega bucks. My daily Jag has 4 less cylinders and twice the power of the XJS thanks in part to the supercharger - but the normally aspirated V8 is still a better performer than the Jag V12 - but it isn't a V12 and doesn't sound like one.

Yes, we have some of the original TWR team onboard with the project so we know how to get 500hp N/A from the touring car days. The problem is they won’t last long at those levels so 400-450 would be max N/A.
Also yes this would be much easier to swap out for a V8 TT but that is not the point of what we want to achieve. Big hp V12 with a manual box that can take a beating on track is the goal.
On top of the power I am hoping to get to around 1350-1400kg so even by modern standards it will perform.

Nah no turbos - supercharger - was simply drawing a modern parallel on what is possible. I've had cars with both turbo types including the more modern serial twins and VGT stuff but for me superchargers win hands down simply based on response and delivery, keep the failure points and hot spots to a minimum, I doubt a Jag V12 head would lend itself to turbos in any case without major work - it was always the intakes I believe that were the choke point. How a bout a supercharger with a dynamically variable ratio ?

Out of interest why the manual, I'm not against them but transmissions have come a long way, many higher powered machines these days run auto's or even a form of DSG - sure you can shift but it's all drive by wire.

Would be cool to see a big cat on the track again, it is all out of my financial reach whichever way it goes.

Hi PP

I would love to see a re-design of the Front Grill, which would essentially look a bit more 'e' type (esq) with an Oval Surround and Single Bar across the Middle also containing a V12 XJS Badge with a Chrome Surround in the Center of that Bar (again like the 'e' Type)

Where this New Grill would be a Straight Swap for the existing Grill, as it would use the same mountings and be a straight bolt in without the need for any modifications to the body

You could also come up with a Second Design which could feature an alternative Chrome Mesh to give her more of the look of a DB7 with optional DB7 V12 Side Vents which could either be fixed on to the Body for decoration only or let into the side of Fender/Wing to provide some extra Engine Cooling or even a Louvered Bonnet/Hood like the XKR or 'e' type

Thank you for the inputs guys and keep the ideas coming. On the manual/auto side it is just the statement we are trying to make turning back the clock.
A regular auto shouldn’t be difficult but wouldn’t suit what we are trying to do. A double clutch would be a good alternative but at the power levels we are looking for they would be considerably more expensive. It could be on the options list.
