Talking Uh-oh! Possible peach found!

I have been half browsing around for a convertible to drive on the weekends. My 1998 VDP is my daily driver, and I have put 14k on it since July!

So in browsing around I found this: (1991 XJS convertible, 5.3l with 53k miles!)

http://tinyurl.com/xjsv12

The VIN: SAJTW4843MC178582

It is the Rouhge Classic, does that mean anything? I've emailed an inquiry, it looks and sounds like real peach! It will be my second car, so I am just wanting opinions here... I am thinking of giving it a drive.

Is this the A116? Is it the facelift model?

I was looking at Mercedes 500 Sl roadsters, but I am SOOOOO enjoying my Jaguar!

Thanks for your input in advance...

Julie

Beautiful car! I do not know much about these. Here is a little info: http://www.jag-lovers.org/buyers_guide/ch6.html.

I would be concerned about any 20 year old car and the work required to keep it running unless you have proof that it was meticulously looked after. Also keep in mind these are around 11 mpg gas mileage around town.

Have you considered a XK8/XKR convertible? Early 2000's models are roughly in the same price class...more dependable...and you will find lots of support on the forum here.

This is not a "facelift" mdoel, no.

The "Rouge Edition" was an upgraded trim package with red piping on the seats and a bunch of other red "stuff" :-). Someone will chime in with exact details.

I suggest going to the FAQ/Quick link XJS section and reading the buyer's guide.

Cheers

It seems a little overpriced to me unless it's in absolute stunning condition, but I could be wrong.

Thanks guys... I thought the same thing... too much work to maintain and overpriced. I talked to the guy and he seemed willing to deal. He had several cars and a young family... it is an inheiritance... I LOVE the lines, but don't want a weekend car with that much work...

That said if I get near where it is I may take a look (It is 75+ miles away...)

He really seemed willing to deal to get rid of it...

Julie...
