Default Upper and lower ball joint manufacturer ID

This is probably my OCD and cynicism coming out, but order Lemforder upper and lower ball joints and just got them. The lowers look totally like Lemforders and what I expected. The uppers not so much (pictures below).

I just don't have the experience with different parts to know if something's good or not, but kinda like to know that what I paid for, I got. (But then again, the shipping kills you, so I feel kinda screwed that I can't return the parts, so am more inclined to not put up a fit, uggghhhh).

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Packaging - On the left are supposed to be the Lemforder upper ball joints, on the right are the Lemforder lower joints received on the same order

The upper is not a Lemforder.

My gut is that the lower will last you awhile, you’ll end up replacing that upper much sooner.

Not a terrible job. If you’re not gonna return it and wait for the replacement, I’d install it, and have the replacement on hand for the time you’ll need it.

Not being OCD and not being cynical.

You paid for and expected a specific product...and received something different.

If time allows I'd contact the seller and see what he has to say, personally. Otherwise, as mentioned, go with what you've got and see what happens down the road. I'm not aware of Eurospare parts being particularly terrible or sub-standard; nothing bad is likely to happen. It's just that Lemforder is best, and that's why you paid extra to get them.

Cheers
DD

The best thing, if you need specific parts, such as these, is to go to a Jaguar specialist, SNG, Manners, Cov west etc. If they have Lemforders (Manners always do) then they will say so, if not they will say so.

On the remote chance that they are repackaged Lemforder... look for a little triangle owl logo stamped into them.

The uppers are definitely not Lemforders. I just changed my originals for Lemforders. Genuine are painted black, and the boot looks different. I bought mine from Rockauto. Genuine Lemforders in original boxes.

Yup - this was a RockAuto order, also. I'm glad you got the right ones. This actually makes me hopeful that it was just a screw up and they'll fix it

So, looked at the piece and it had no markings of any kind and pretty bad milling, no paint, definitely a cheapo replacement.

BUT - since I did have what I think is a Lemforder in the lowers, figured I'd take a look and see if I could find the owl in a triangle. Low and behold - is this it between the 36 and the 9?

Lemforder stamp showing what looks like an owl inside the triangle between the 36 and the 9...

Just a follow up after resolution with RockAuto. So I ended up having to spend a little time emailing the RockAuto folks, but after I explained, they sent me a shipping label and then when they received the crappy ones, out come the next shipment. Lo and behold, obviously Lemforders...

Well done Pirk. Good for you, the others would not have lasted 5 minutes fast cornering.
