urethane for window install???
My car was painted, the front and back windows had to come out, and when they were put back in the job was so BOTCHED because of all the silicone used un-neccessarily, and numerous cuts in the rubbers seals guaranteeing that the car would fill with water both front and back. Now it has to be redone, I'm taking it to ANOTHER shop later this week. I took it to one yesterday and they mentioned URETHANE during the install..from what I understand, there is NO NEED for urethane, that the seals are a complete seal and was intended to be a stand alone feature for install and provided a complete seal against water leaking into the car. Both windows are installed incorrectly, and the rubber seals are all gooped up with silicone and all cut to rat ****!
I'm pretty pissed off, not only were the windows botched, they bent one of the trims around the rear window at the bottom where the trim meets the bottom at the trunk (boot). And of course they hid this from me thinking I would not know it was bent and restraightened, but it now has a divot where it was bent.
My question is this: does the install need urethane? From what I understand the seals are a complete seal. Is this right? Are the seals a complete stand alone seal without the need for urethane?

I did a front seal on mine today. I believe you will need some sealant especially on the corner.
About the rear, here is another thread.

Read the statement of Greg on #11.
Today I tried to do rear too, but failed in installing a rear seal properly. I realized I must not use sealant when installing a rear seal. But according to Greg, you will need some sealant after installing the seal.
