So my hoses connecting the crossover pipe are starting to look like Popeye the Sailor arms, with crispy beige stuff oozing out from inside? the hose wall? This may be the dumbest question of the day but I really don't wanna do a hose swap and coolant flush/bleed tears crying drinking procedure today its Friday and it is like scorching hot here...how serious is this? can I put it off for a few hundred more miles? I was going to go on a slight road trip this weekend.
Impossible to predict if the hose will fail....or when.
I wouldn't risk an out-of-town road trip, personally.
Cheers
DD
ugh.
Im curious how much bulge is normal tho when your in 35c / 95F weather at full engine temperature, like the other new hoses do fluff up abit when hot and pressurized.
Thanks, I've gone and bought a foot of proper reinforced coolant hose much like the one you have, not worth the risk as my trip would of been 5 hours up and over a 4100ft mountain highway.
Did you actually go out and take a picture just for this thread?

Well I've torn apart the coolant system again, currently curing the paint on my sanded and polished crossover pipe, ripped off the air pump while I was there. Those hoses were definitely about to pop, and were at least 50% thinner then the replacement hose I've acquired.
I've cut the belt to my leaking AC compressor in the process, is there any reason I can't just delete the entire system while I'm there? I've never had working AC for more then a week due to the leak and from what I've read the old compressor is garbage anyway. I'd like AC eventually but I'm leaning towards an electric compressor mounted in behind the wheelwell.
NO reason at all not to get rid of the compressor, the pipes and the condenser. Just support the valve at the firewall against the torque when you remove undo and the pipe from it. Keep all the bits, obviously, and a diagram of the routing, if you are my sort of age!
Cooling will be better without the condenser, too.
