Either or.

There is plenty of room for the slightly larger disc, have a look see on yours.

I have used both over the years, but the Dayco was always easier to find, and the Tridon starting getting quite silly with pricing, BUT, that was years ago, before Internet and Ebay even existed.

NOT wrong at all.

No jiggle pins, less noise (they rattle), and one less thing to go wrong.

Drill a 3/32" or 1/8" (it is NOT critical in size) hole in the top disc. Install the stats with that hole at 12 o'clock.

That will provide a constant "bleed" for the cooling system, and stop those deadly hot spots of a badly bled system

Whenever I had stats with jiggle pins, loooooong time ago, I simply cut them off, instant bleed hole, simple.

Hi Folks,

Even-though, I don’t much post here, I am a regular behind the scenes reader, I study and follow many of the threads and still consider myself a "student" compared to may of you here.

I am lucky enough to own a museum quality one owner (we are the 2nd owners) XJS w/ 22k miles. Most will call it over maintained and this forum has been an amazing resource for me over the past 6 years to keep the car running great.

I am currently purchasing some parts to get the XJS ready for next summer and it is time to replace all coolant and heater hoses as well as brake lines.

I read through many threads including this one and looking for a recommendation for a place to order a coolant hose kit from.

Our XJS is a 1992 V12

I called SNG earlier and they told me that they don’t apparently offer kits for 1992s and told me to order everything one by one.

Moss is super confusing as they offer many kits for the very same car by VIN but our VIN range is back ordered and not sure when it will be in stock (Moss is the only place that divides these kits by VIN which even confused me more)

Jagbits, Justjaguk and Britishparts UK have kits available but with zero details. From the list of part numbers I gathered Jaguar Classic does not offer them all as some are NLA. Some of these places are half the price of the others which makes me question the quality of the parts.

My question is what is everyone’s recommendation for a place to order a good quality coolant & heater hose kit from? Links would be really appreciated.

I am more of an OEM Type and don’t mind paying for an OEM kit if such thing exits. Also is there a list of OEM parts numbers somewhere as a reference to folks like me for future reference? My understanding is that 1992 cars have total of 14 hoses but I am also confused about that as different sites list limited or no info.

If I can avoid it, I would like to do this job right the first time with quality parts.

My research yield below part #s if it helps some folks in the future which I copied from JustJagsUk’s website that lists 15 different hoses (not sure about one additional hose)

C43267 - Top hose x 1

C31066/1 - Radiator to expansion tank hose x 1*

C41102 - Bottom hose x 1

C41374 - Water pump & top hose x 1

CCC6339 - Heater hose x 1

C44474 - Heater hose x 1*

C43266 - Top hose x 1

C41351/2 - Heater hose x 1*

CAC2917 - Heater hose x 1 Now: CCC6343

C43999 - Heater hose x 1

EBC4402 - Balance hose x 2

CAC5093/1 - Hose x 1*

CAC5092/1 - Hose x 1*

CCC4723 - Thermostat hose x 1

CAC4605/1 - Hose x 1*

* : Either NLA or couldn't find the updated part #

Many thanks in advance!

Hey gang, big thanks to everyone, finally i did whole cooling maintenance as per book and guides on this forum, now it stays rock solid bellow N, will be checking leaks and how is it on the road, but one thing is unclear. so in the Jaguar V12 cooling system PDF, it is suggested to have clear hose that goes from metal tank to the plastic expansion tank.
And the refilling steps are
1) Raise the LH corner of the car about 6”, it helps some cars to burp the air. Mine are OK flat on the ground.
2) Remove both radiator caps, and the bleed plug from the LH top of the radiator.
3) Remove the small vac hose from the heater tap, just because, OK.

4) Fill the system via the filler spout adjacent to the A/C compressor, and SLOWLY. Listen as the air GURGLES out, and when it’s silent, add some more coolant SLOWLY. Fill it too fast, and trapped air will never get burped, so you will need to drain it again, and start over.

The coolant will flow out of the metal tank spout first, so cap it, then continue filling SLOWLY until it runs freely from the radiator bleed hole, then plug that. Continue SLOWLY until the filler spout is full and cap that, You are DONE.
So i followed it exactly, however first overfill was on the radiator, then on the metal tank spout, but thats ok i guess...
However that clean hose stayed empty no matter what, i ran the car to operating temperature several times, still its empty. i honestly dont understand how it can get coolant in, its 2-3 cm above any highest coolant flow point, please see bellow

green coolant at the end of the hose is left after i pre-filled the plastic tank through it, it didnt go all the way into the tank, because it bended up and down a little bit when it goes into the body.

That is the coo;ing system"vent" hose, and goes to the atmospheric tank inside the body work behind the LHF wheel.

Filling the system will NOT put coolant in that hose.
It will only see coolant when the system heats up and the cap allows a bleed off, which only has one place to go, THAT HOSE.

The atmospheric tank needs to about 1/2 full with clean coolant prior to filling the main system.

I use a braided clear hose (commonly call air hose down here), as the braiding stops that hose collapsing with HOT coolant.

If you have no vent coolant happening, you have air in system, its that simple.

Bleeding this system is frustrating on some cars, but the slower you fill it, the better your chances.
