V12 Performance fans

V12 Performance fans
In the past there have been questions about the cooling fans that V12 Performance advertises vs. what they actually sell. I can confirm that one does indeed NOT get what one thinks they are going to get.
The photos tell the story. On the V12 Performance page, you can examine the fans and see that what you should be getting appear to be Zirgo ZFU type fans. What you get is a different fan, with a different motor and design...in fact the blades are set up to rotate the other way.
I didn't bother checking any of this when I got the V12 Performance fans last spring, but I was disappointed at the outset at their performance. I finally ordered some Zirgo ZFU14S fans, and those appear to be the fans pictured on the V12 Performance web site.
What made me feel especially foolish about falling for this was that I never bothered to peel off the "DC 12 Volt" sticker on the fans. I just expected them to be stuck over the printed letter on the Zirgo fans. Despite the fact that those stickers and placed exactly where the stamped lettering on the Zirgo fans are, when I peeled them away I found nothing.
Once I had the fans out of the car, I ran them side-by-side in what was a most un-scientific test...I held out my hand and felt which was moving more air. The difference was laughable. I don't know why, but the Zirgo fan was clearly moving a lot more are than the brand-x fan V12 Performance sold me.
Anyway, time to leave this sad episode behind. I may get fooled again, but it won't be by Mr. Welker.

RGP,
I am very sorry to hear you have been ripped off. The first ones look like el cheapo ones, I must say.
Have you now got a couple of Zirgos installed, and where did you get them?
FWIW, for any other UK customers, I have a couple of Pacets and they are fine. However, I believe that Spal are also very good, if pricey.

As far as I know, all the aftermarket fan isn't powerful enough for their price.
OEM fans for other cars are much cheaper and more powerful.
While these fans cost around $500, you could get those OEM twin fans for Ford/GM for around $100.
Googling the fans for Intrepid, Contour, Falcon, etc and you could find many twin fans, which can be easily fitted to an XJS. They are for V6 engines originally, but they are capable of much hotter and higher output American V8 engines.

the whole kit arrived no prob in the end, it was only the neg comments on this forum that spooked me, they are so good only one comes on ever at the set temp the other I have connected to an extra 90 degree switch but has never been needed. unless I turn the aircon on,
so ime well happy with V12 Performance and their products. by the way the still make the longer banjo bolts, according to their parts list
