Default A veneer story!

Hi all, just thought I’d share this with you. As part of my restoration I’ve been looking at the veneers on the car. I had nearly a complete usable set but the twin switch surrounds were completely gone and others had some imperfections but I could live with them for now. I came across a specialist who’s work seemed good and his prices while not cheap were reasonable compared with other quotes. I posted the switch covers and he said he would let me know when they arrived. That was last week and this afternoon the phone rung. It was the guy and we got chatting and I asked him to give me some idea on a price for refurbing the door cappings both front and rear. He knew I was off work due to the pandemic and out of the blue told me to parcel them up along with the glove box front we had discussed previously and said he would do the lot for free! I said thanks but I would wait until times were better but he was adamant. He told me how business was booming for him and he was doing very nicely sorting all kinds of exotic cars. I said thanks but I couldn’t. He would have none of it so off they’ve gone this afternoon. All he has asked me to do is leave him a positive comment on his site assuming I’m happy which he assures me I will be . This guy told me how he had previously helped a couple of other people out and even when I’d explained I wasn’t in difficulty financially but the car wasn’t a priority at the moment it mattered not. So there you have it. Looks like I’ve met another decent human being today of which there are many on this site!

Sounds great, but you've neglected to tell us where to find his business!

Well my veneers turned up today and they were worth the wait. I had a bit of a chat with ged who told me he worked for Bentley for 12 years. You can tell! I couldn't thank him enough. Only trouble is I put the glovebox lid on and it made the vent surround I thought was ok , look poor. Looks like hes going to be getting some more work off me! Hope rest is free lol.

I got my switch covers back from ged at gdk veneering. I've had to wait a little while for materials and because he's so busy. Sounds like a lot of people have been working on their cars during lockdown. Anyway as you can see the quality is exceptional.

If your in the UK I can highly recommend him but you may have to wait a while.
