Water in footwell

Water in footwell
So it is raining here in NorCal and the Cat had to go out in the weather.
As it rains so little here and we are in a drought, she decided to keep some water for later in her footwell.
The carpet on top is not wet but underneath on the metal is.
It was parked some time on a slight up hill slope.
Where should I start looking as water leaks can be notorious difficult to track down.
Wind screen, soft top, window seals, panel seals, all of the above?
Appreciate any insights as to the most likely?
Thanks
Dave

Before digging too deeply in search of a *leak* I would investigate the possibility that the air intake plenum filled with water and overflowed into the cabin via the HVAC ducting. This could be caused by clogged plenum drains or perhaps, since the car was on a slope, most of the water moved away from the drains.
Just a thought.
I'm not negating the possibility of an actual leak, however.
Cheers
