Default What can I mix with Magnetec Motor Oil? 1989 XJS V12

I want to give my XJS V12 an Oil Change and in one of my Sheds I have just found Two unopened 5lite (1 gallon) cans of (non synthetic) Magnatec motor engine Oil, which is probably not quite enough, as I'd also need some top up.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think that Magnetec do this type of non synthetic engine oil any more. All the Magnetec that I have seen in the shops has been Synthetic.

So what can I mix with this Magnetec to give me enough to use?

Can you mix Synthetic Magnetec with Non Synthetic Magnetec?

This Magnetec is 10/40w

Would it be better to mix it with a similar 10/40w or a 5/40w?

10 litres will be damn near enough. And you can mix anything with it, FWIW I am a great believer in fully synthetic, but changing it regularly is the most important thing, whatever the oil is. Does this mean the brakes are Ok now?

Hi Greg

It looks as if I have screwed up yet again, as I couldn't see any mention of 'Synthetic' on the front of the plastic container, whereas on the New Style Containers it is very prominent.

Having looked on the back of the 'container' it does in fact say 'Synthetic' so I know where I'm going with that and will get the GF to get me another 'Can' which I can use for a top-up.

As for the 'Brakes' I'm close 'but no cigar!'

At first glance, I thought that this Oil wasn't 'Synthetic' I couldn't see any mention of this on the front of the can, whereas on the New Style Cans, it is a lot more prominent.
