Default What a crap day! One of those days that make you want...

Well I think we can safely say the seal on the steering rack isn’t doing it’s job(insert laugh cry).... and after letting it run a bit and putting it back had a nice puddle. Not sure if it was from the rack or trans. Why not! It might as well be the trans 🤬😭! But I did rev it with the pipes gutted and it’s fuggin frightening!

Oh yeah and I changed the fuel filter... totally normal! I’ve had it for the day that’s for sure.

Good move putting the tools away at that point! I feel for you, that's for sure.

yeah it’s such a disappointing feeling when you spent many many hours fixing something that isn’t fixed.

If you are sure you did everything right give it some time to break in and see if the leak resolves or lessens when warmed up.

Power steering pumps, Brake Calipers vacuum boosters and Steering Racks. All things I have failed at rebuilding even though I'm a very accomplished shade tree mechanic with just about every tool known to man. Time is money and I've learned some items are better left to the professionals.

My advise...even though you didn't ask for it is to punt. .... get a face-lift rack from a auto recycler, chances are it will be fine as is...if it appears not abused. The last few facelift racks I got from an auto recycler were good as is. The last face lift rack I got rebuilt from Coventry West leaks just bas enough to be noticed but not bad enough to warrant replacement.

yeah I’m in the same boat... I knew when I had it pulled out I should’ve just gotten a rebuilt rack. I thought how could it get any worse if I did it myself... well if that puddle was from the rack and not the trans haha I think I def made it worse. I thought I learn my lesson long ago with junkyard parts. I told myself anything that carries fluid I would always buy new. Well here I am and I fooled myself thinking I could do it right. Well here I am and I fooled myself thinking I could do it right. I’m probably going to toss a bottle of power steering leak fixer aka snake oil and hope it gets better

Can't comment on the leak but the car sounds amazing, I hope you've kept the rear resonators (it sounds like you have) I suggest splicing in an X-pipe or X-pipe high flow muffler it'll give it more of a Ferrari v12 rasp...if that is what you are after, and lose abit of the gurgly muscle car sound. Cutting out the face of the filter boxes also improves sound in my opinion, you'd have to fit a mesh screen and relocate a Air Temp sensor it's abit of work but improved airflow and acoustics.

yep, I’ve already got an x-pipe ready to go in in spring! Not that jags v12 engines don’t sound good in race form but I like a higher pitched tone.

Please post a sound clip when you do so. We are very interested in the difference between the two set ups.
