What SAE Battery Terminals Do I Need?
Hi Guys
I picked up a potentially amazing Battery Charger (Start and Charger) but need some Battery Terminal Lugs (The ones with the holes in) to go on it where I believe they are Sized in SAE
The thickness of the threaded spigot that they go over is 10mm but does anyone know the SAE Size so that I can get some from Amazon
Hopefully the Photo will explain what I am after

Hi Greg/Grant
It's not Blue its Green! and it is so heavy that I can't pick it up, as it Weighs about 2 Cwt or 225 lbs and maybe more and is according to the GF's dad who gave this to me years ago, one of the finest Welding Sets that were ever made (but he couldn't pick it up either!) and so he gave it to me
Where it has been in my Shed for Years! although I can't remember ever using it, except it has a very Special Feature I have only just discovered as its not just a Welding Set but a Battery Starter and Charger
Which is the one thing that I need right now! and only just remembered that I'd got this, although I don't even know if it works! Full write up to follow on my 'Cherry Blossom' Restoration Thread

I've got a small Battery Charger but it takes a Couple of days to Charge a Battery
Lnr You are probably right but I've seen some of these on ebay for £900! and the only time I plugged it in (some years ago) it fused all the Lights but I wouldn't mind betting that something that size will be very expensive to run and may even cost more than a New Battery!

Hi OB,
As I've mentioned to you before, something like that which can dispense a very high amperage, has it's potential uses. But you need to be really careful, as it has no "intelligence" and can damage your batteries and potentially be dangerous.
I have a slightly similar unit which is a dedicated battery charger jumper and jump starter and can run up to 100amps. But I only use it for 3 purposes and I'd politely suggest you use yours in the same way:
1. As a jump starter where you set it on a very high setting c 100amp for a quick jump start
2. To try and desulphate a battery that seems to be dead and won't take a charge. In which case, you could try repeated short bursts of say 30 mins at, say, 25amps which can shock the plates of deposits. Once you've done a few of those, you'd then run it on a standard battery conditioner
3. To kickstart the charging of a completely flat battery, where some of the standard battery chargers won't start the process because they can't recognise the battery as being valid. BUT, once the battery is up to a certain level of initial charge, say 10v, I would then connect it to a modern battery conditioner.
So, yes, it could play a role in your workshop, but only under limited conditions and with really careful use! Don't use it as standard battery charger!
I don't use any of my old 5a, 10a chargers any more as modern conditioners are just so much better and far less damaging to batteries. Modern conditioners avoid over-charging or boiling of batteries and can be left connected for months ensuring the car will start after a lay-up.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul (Ptjs)
Cheers!
Lots of very useful Stuff that I didn't Know but it only goes up to 55 Amps when on Starter and Charge
Hi Greg and Grant, I was going to do this with the Battery out of the Car, as I really do not want to risk frying the electrics, especially the Alternator which is difficult to get to and would cost me megabucks to replace!
I was going
