Yeah, not to sure on the look of these wheels, not my thing... but the spoked car wheels, does anyone know where you can get the old fashioned wheels for an E type jag?

Although your wheels are likely to be a further previous owner enhancement, TWR favoured that style of wheel with concealed wheel nuts on both their XJR and XJR-S:

I suspect, although have no evidence to prove it, that the TWR wheels would be from the Italian manufacturer, Fondmetal.

A guy in our local club has a set on a XJS. He bought the car just to get the unique wheels, then decided to restore the car.

JWL and VIA is a symbol which shows the wheel meets or exceeds the standard of Japanese law, so it's not about the manufacturer.
There were several magnesium wheels released in Japan in the 80's because at that time Japan was in bubble economy, so it is highly possible they were made of magnesium, no wonder at all.

Speedline make the twr and xjrs sport wheels. I assume speedline and fondmetal are unrelated companies.

That would be very expensive for road cars, usually it's seen only for race cars, with sizes/width substantially different from those you show.

Possibly, if the rims are light as you say, they may have been forged instead of cast.
Maybe worth checking with the maker, if still on business.
Bonjour Voisin

This is the information that I've found, often related to Corvette and race cars. The price estimation is between 10k and 12k which was extremely expansive for the nineties and I'll probably not find the maker anymore!
But .... I'm still looking for the black XJS with exactly the same kit and ask to the owner for more information.

Hello Japthug, thank you for the update. Can you please have a look locally if you can find more information about "Classic Auto Accessories of North America"? This is the label in the wheel.

Thx

Found several references on Corvette and MB forums, but all of the picture downloads are expired and not available, except these (scroll down):

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126...1000sel-2.html

Last link quote:

"What is very odd is that the car is fitted with some ridiculously expensive "Classic Auto Accessories of North America"-wheels that are cast in titanium (!) and super-rare even in the US. According to the gentleman who purchased the car they were among, if not the most expensive wheels in the world back then. They were originally chrome with gold stars but repainted in the nineties."

Here is a brochure or ad picture:

Hope this helps

yA,

Just my opinion, but if they are really worth some money, I would definitely sell them and get some decent standard Jaguar or JaguarSport wheels on the car. And remember they were no TWR wheels or bodykits made after 1988. TWR didn't exist as a Jaguar enhancer after 1988. Unless the previous owner bought a very old TWR kit, that will be a JaguarSport or copy kit that is on your car.

Cheers

Paul

You might want to save that photo of the brochure/ad to your own computer, because the post on that forum is 10 years old, and the original poster is now banned. There is no guarantee it will continue to be hosted there, so might want to grab it while you can.

I tried searching but unfortunately no results, but I believe it was a dealer in the US and they had a certain Japanese wheel manufacturer, just as Enkei, Wash Myer (I don't know the correct spell but this is the company which made BBS wheels), Watanabe, etc., make the wheels.

I've already downloaded the picture :-) Yes this is a US company but from my side no information about the Japanese manufacturer!

One remark, I've checked and the tires pressure is 3 bars, 43 PSI. (225x60x16) What is this 30 on the picture, PSI, we are not using this in EU.

This is a 30 PSI marker. It is probably just a reminder, you used to be able to buy such things. 3 bar sounds a lot of pressure to me, It might be worth checking again, 30 psi (two bar) sounds a lot more likely as the correct pressure.

Thx Greg, yes I've 3 bar on the four tires and normally 2.4 is used. For me this is a lot and this is why I'm asking for your expertise

Do you mean 3 bar is "printed" on the sidewall of the tyre? If so, that sounds like the max pressure the tyre will take, not the recommended pressure.
Also I took another look at the photo of the rim and tyre. Just in case you were unaware, H speed rated tyres are not suitable for the XJS's speed capability.

yA,

3 bar or 43psi is much too high on a 225/60 x16 on an XJS! Do not go any higher than 34psi (2.4 bar) on the front and 36psi (2.5 bar) on the back.

For "Maximum Comfort - up to 100mph" Jaguar state 26psi (1.7 bar) on the front and 28psi (1.9 bar) on the back.

Cheers

Paul
