What's the best way of repairing this?
As you will see from the Photos, one of the Brake Dust 'Thingys' on 'The Ice Princess' has got a Broken Bolt/Thread
So what is the best way to fix it?
Should I just drill it out and use a nut and bolt instead or should I try and drill and tap it, to replace the thread
Keeping it Original doesn't bother me, I just want a practical solution that would avoid any problems when putting it back
For instance, if I used a Nut and Bolt would I have to grind the head flat as per the Original or wouldn't it make any difference
One of the things that I don't want, is the 'Previously' Captive Thread, spinning round when I try and put a nut on
Ideas, please Guys
Brake Shield with a Broken Bolt
How do I fix this Broken Thread
Does the other side of the Thread need to be ground flat like this, or doesn't it matter

Hi Greg
Do you mean remove the Bolt and Throw it away, or the Whole Shield 'Thingy' as pictured in the Photo, which has also got a Clamp to hold a Flexy Brake Pipe
The worst part of replacing the Calipers (at least for me) is sorting out that 'Chinese Puzzle' of plates that go behind them

Throw the entire shield thingy away, both pieces. You just need to cut off the piece that holds the flexible which bolts to the caliper/hub and retain that. Better brake cooling, no more rusty bits hanging around the caliper. And slotting the hole that the steering arm top bolt goes through means you do not have to remove that bolt to change the caliper. just loosen it.
