Where does this hole go??? - Wiring through the firewall
I am trying to wire two coolant temperature sensors to a dual temperature gauge inside the car.
Luckily Jaguar designers were very smart, designed all wires to go through connectors in the inner fenders (wings)
and designed the entire bulkhead to be double-walled and complex, so there is no obvious wire routing option.
I do not want to go through the inner fender simply because I just got the car fully undercoated and waxoiled.
So the splashpad that provides access to the right inner fender is nicely sealed and I would like to keep it that way.
I did remove a rubber plug (that crumbled) next to the brake pedal assembly and found this mystery hole.
It is inside the engine compartment pretty close to the hood/bonnet latch mechanism (seen blurry on the right).
A screw driver can go in there almost six inches deep and then hits another metal plate.
From the driver legroom the other side is covered in some kind of rubber or plastic.
Does anyone know what this hole is for and whether I can drill through there???
(Otherwise I will disconnect the battery next weekend, grab a hole saw drill bit and find out the hard way.)

If you look at the connectors that go through the inner wing, there is one both sides, you will see that some of the terminals are not used, and you can connect you wires to these. If you do not like that idea, the throttle cable system provides a route too, as does the bonnet release.
