I think I said it before but IMO the XJS was the last of the "classic" looking Jaguars in the GT line (XKE-XJS-XK8 etc). I like the XK8 but I think it started to really take on that "modern" look by then.
What you guys think? Could also be another reason she might go up in value one day I suppose.

The XK120, the E type or XKE and the XJS where radical cars for their respective times . They where not Classic in the least.
I think the 96-06 XK8 is incredibly beautiful and fits in perfectly well with all those other cars as well and looks very much as an aging Jaguar should look: better with time. Not such a huge fan of the 07-14 Xk as it's less distinctive, but I think they got it right with the F type. Most Jaguars look better as they age.
Now, the problem with their current saloons is that they are so incredibly bland and boring. They are neither traditional nor are they radically innovative. They are just regular cars. Look at a 07 XF and it does not look special at all, it just looks like an outdated luxury car.

Out of all Jaguars, and as a dyed in the wool Jaguar fanboy I love all of them for different reasons, the XJS is the one model that has just increased its looks as the years have gone by, to me a design so ahead of its time. The XK8 is a definite 90's retro design, lovely but not a sublime beauty like the XJS. The modern sedans don't look like classic jags. The XJ6 - now that screams jag all the way. I think its that low slung look that makes jags what they are.

Only 1000 or so were taxed in the UK last year or notified as Statutory Off Road

Prices in the UK are rocketing. I sold my last XJS (96 Celebration) in 2009 for £9500 with 34000 miles on the clock. That car would retail for close to £20k now. Low mileage / full history seems to be money maker.
I just looked at 10 XJS over the last week and was shocked at how bad most of them were. Soaking wet carpets, aircon inoperable, horrible leather. I thought I'd never find a good one

leather + aircon sounds like at least $3000 in repairs, right off the bat.
wet carpets sounds like $1000k min up to irreparable.
i'm happy my issues amount to chasing down leaks under the hood.

Same goes for the coupes - Aston Martin nailed it with the current V8 Vantage, and everyone (except Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche & a few others!) has been copying it!

It looks like values are starting to rise although there is the slight possibility that this one may be a misprint.

Yikes!
I think he accidentally typed his phone number in the "price" box.
Either that or the boot is filled with gold bars.
That's one way to get attention.

Its not about the money, the XJS is a 'Cult Car' pure and simple and you would probably need to be Certified to own one!
They 'Guzzle down gallons of petrol like its going out of Style'
£200 worth in just Two Days! without even trying.
And if or when they go wrong, then you had better be 'filthy rich', or be prepared to get the spanners out and fix it.

I for one don't want them to go up in price, as I may want to add another to my Collection.
The XJS is a handsome Car and in many ways much nicer than the 'e' type with good ones fetching £125,000!
The only thing that I would think about changing is the front grill, for the single bar type like on the early 'e' types.
Maybe one of you Clever guys could Photoshop one up, just to see how it would look in real life.

I'm going to see if I can photo shop your idea of a single bar into an XJS grill; I wonder what it'll look like.
Cheers,
