Default Windscreen temperature control

The air coming out of the vents near the windscreen is stuck on hot. The temperature adjuster under the radio feels as if it isn't attached to anything. Is it possible that it has become disconnected or a spring has broken on the lever? If so, what is the best route to access?

Thanks in advance for any input.

The defroster ducts on top of the dash, at the base of the windishield? And, is the mode selector set to "Def" ? if so, temp defaults to hot in that setting

That's a trimmer/bias adjuster. It gives a very slight change in air temp coming from the dash vents versus the fllor vents. If you want your face cooler than your feet, you'd slide the adjustment to the cold side. Again, it gives just a subtle change.

The main temp control is the LH knob but, if the mode slector is set to "Def", it won't make any difference.

Thanks in advance for any input.
Hopefully the above will be somwhat helpful. If not, more details please :-)

Cheers

Thanks for your quick response. Yes I am talki g about the vents on the dash at the base of the windshield. The right control is set to off and the temp for both controls is on the cold setting. The air from the defrost vents isnt blowing, but it is definitely coming out hot. Everything else seems to work as it should. This is a recent development, so something changed.
