Default Wing mirror wiring

Any smart auto electro and out there?
sourced a replacement left wing mirror for my facelift CJS stop the mirror matched the old one, but the wiring did not. The car harness has white/brown, green/white, blue, brown, grey, pink, and black and red brown, which I think is the heating. The replacement mirror has four wires, yellow, blue, green, and white, I’ve tried most combinations but not got one to work yet.Any ideas?

Barryd,

You haven't said what type of XJS you've got (always a good idea to mention the model year etc in your thread title and also your sig). However, I'm guessing from your description of the mirror harness wiring that you've got a facelift car?

With your description of the mirror wires, you've bought a pre-facelift mirror which, as you will have realised uses different wires but also different plugs. So you'll need to buy some facelift wiring plugs or else create bespoke connections.

I have a facelift and apre-facelift mirror in front of me.

The faceilft mirrors use two plugs. The larger plug has the following colours:
Brown / Red
Grey
Dark Grey
White / Blue
White / Green

The smaller plug has the following:
Pink
Brown
Green
Grey

(All of the colours are quite pastel on the facelift cars)

I haven't got my wiring files with me at present but I THINK the small plug might relate to memory function. Or maybe heater as well?

The pre-facelift mirrors also have two plugs. The main plug is:
Yellow
Blue
Green
White

Then there is a second plug which is
White / Grey
Black

Maybe that second plug is a heater circuit?

If you look through the wiring diagrams for both pre-facelift and facelift cars, you should be able to work out the mapping between the main plug wiring for the harness and the mirror for your non -memory, non-heated mirror.

Good luck

Paul

The mirrors and connections from around that vintage XJS changed.
You might try taking a pic of the connectors and posting them.
I have both facelift and pre facelift mirrors in my spares bins.
You can PM me with the pics and I'll see if I have the correct one.
Mine are US spec but the only difference would be the mirror surface which is easily swapped.
Steve
