I've been considering a 1995 or 1996 XJS as I have heard they have fewer issues but was wanting opinions on an older model as far as issues they might have. I found a local ( reasonable distance ) 1993 that is low miles and 1 owner with full service documentation. I attached a link and was looking for some opinions, thanks

Consider coming up here, 15k is too much, your dollar goes 35% farther in Canada and its the best city on earth to visit. I'll even help you get around if you need a hand. Lots of Jag owners here...

Paint and interior is much more expensive to fix than mechanical issues, so I tend to look for cars with those first. As a side benefit, a car that has been cosmetically looked after will likely be looked after in all other regards too. At this age, I think how the car was looked after is more important than initial spec.
That said, I'm not aware of anything that a 93 or 94 would prove more troublesome than a 95 or 96. Those have their own issues with the coils going bad. Price seems on the high side to me, but I'm also not in the market for an XJS right now.

This car looks rock solid from the photos. Any car maintained like that cosmetically is also maintained the same way mechanically, IMO. Price seems high, but XJS prices are all over the place now.
Plus of the AJ6 over AJ16 is that it has old fashioned wires instead of the COP and that the cam cover does not pulverize. I think AJ16 has an improved head gasket, interior is more aesthetically pleasing IMO , and it does have the body coded bumpers if you like that. But I would not hesitate to get this car if the price is right for you

Depends on your interests I suppose? What do you do besides tour around Japan in beautiful cars? Also I should note its abit of a local joke to refer to Van as The Best Place on Earth(TM) as it used to be the provincial motto printed on licence plates and government signage.

Fair enough. I suppose it really does depend on one's interests. I suppose history and architecture would be my primary interests in visiting new cities. I wonder if there are any good car museums there? Assuming the people I'll be with, if I visit, will be at all interested of course....

Vancouver is a beautiful city to visit, but compared to Europe or Japan will be short on history, as the place was virgin forest before 1885 when the railway arrived. Architecture can again be on the modern side, there are some notable modern buildings, but not a lot left from prior to 1945.Much of the prewar buildings were demolished in the boom years of the 90's and later. In many ways, especially geographically, Vancouver is similar to Hong Kong, and it always had a large Chinese community from when men came over to build the railway, so a lot of Hong Kong people and money came in prior to the handover in 1997, and that has continued afterwards.
I'm not aware of any car museums there. The best one I can think of is in Alberta, closer to me, the Reynolds Museum: https://reynoldsmuseum.ca/
