X type seats, will they fit in a xjs?

Just purchased a 1995 xjs signal red coupe with 6 cylinder engine. Really love the car but the front seats are dry, cracked and need to be replaced. Have considered the seat covers for $750. Also have found a set of front seats from a 2001 x type. They are a little darker but would blend. We have the cream colored seats model ndr. We also have an x type car so I have measured the dimensions between the xjs and x type. The only dimension I am worried about is the distance from the floor to the top of the seat. The x type is 11 inches, the xjs is only 7 inches. Best I can tell this will put my head firmly into the coupe top. Anyone out there ever try to put x type seats in an xjs?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Off the top of my head I would say they will not fit, due to the large base. The base on the XJS seats is quite shallow.
The later XJS seats are very comfortable - in fact I would say they are the best seats I have ever had in a car. I would spend the money on new covers. If they are not badly torn, leatherique is a wonderful product for cleaning and restoring leather. I am alway sceptical of makers claims but this product works.
