XJ-S '89 trunk drain hose
Hi everyone!
I'm now restoring my '89 XJ-S 3.6 paint, and we have found some rust under the right rear fender, just behind the rear wheel.
This rust has been caused by water that is drained from the trunk, and drops on this part, on the inside.
The water of the trunk must be drained through a hose that we have found on the right side, but we don't know where that drain hose should be fixed, since my mechanic says that otherwise, water will continue falling on the inside of the fender and will made rust again.
Does anyone know where this drain hose should go?
Thanks in advance

There is a drain hole each side of the rear window in the gutter just outside the boot lip seal. This hole has a spigot underneath and that should be connected by a flexible hose to the inside of the rear wing where the hole you show is, but on the inside. It should also have a spigot there to attach the hole to. If it does not, then the best thing to do is to clean up the hole and fix a small pipe inside the flexible drain hole and push this pipe about a half inch through the hole, so the water that drains from the boot gutter never gets out of the tube/pipe until just below the wing outer.
In addition I would then seal the hole in the wing that the small pipe comes through, on the inside, with seam sealer.
The side with the petrol filler has the same arrangement except that the flexible has a Y fitting so that the fuel filler sell drain also drains down and out, as well as the rain gutter.
The battery tray fume drain pipe goes out through the floor just to the left of the battery.

Hello
Pictures to back up Greg
Left hand side trunk rim drain
Left hand fuel cap drain - this drain is required - other wise water does sit in this low point - you can see the different colour where the water was sitting over the years (mine was blocked as well
Left hand side drain configuration - the Y piece is steel. Right side of the photo is the bottom spigot that as rusted away from the car
Left hand side trunk drain spigot
Right hand side spigot, (near the hinge
Right hand side of my car - drain to the right of the hinge. Hose sort of ran behind the ECU and then downwards. There is a 34 degree bracket from the wheel arch to the outer fender - it sat in there (not the clearest of picture)
When I did my paint repair - I looked at these holes and could not think of what purpose they did - so I patched them up and no longer have them.
The drain from the fuel filler area is now one piece, exits the rear quarters through a rubber grommet that was nicely placed by Jaguar.
New drain connected to the fuel filler area. Also goes behind that 45 degree support
Drain coming out - lower than the exhaust

Mine had a mixture- The right hand side (Y piece) had them, The left hand side top did not - the lower end did.
If you are suspicious that you have a blockage - then get your compressor and try to blow through them. I did clear my hoses out after I removed them - it was quite amazing just how much rubbish came out.
I found this website early on the peace - good read for the new XJS owners, especially one that is undergoing body workhttp://www.justxjs.com/admin/resourc...why-part-1.pdf
Connection point to the lower panel - not sure if right or left - did not write that part down
Removed bottom spigot. My boot was not in good shape - but for a 40 year old that was purchased site unseen, it is doing its job of keeping me sane
Who ever thought of joining rubber to a metal Y piece (of smaller diameter) was a good idea, did not quite think it through. But they did it to the scuttel drain area as well

If you open the boot lid and look in the two corners under the edge of the back window, you will see (or should see) holes in the bodywork which are drains for the boot rim gutter. They should have spigots underneath the holes on the inside to which the hoses are fixed. If you look at the first pic in post No.4 above, you will see the LHS one.
