XJ-S Memorabilia: Where can I find this original 1975 ad?
Besides chocolate and Jaguar grand tourers, I also have a passion for Jaguar XJ-S memorabilia. I have a nice small collection of 1975 and 1976 Jaguar XJ-S brochures, flyers, and magazines.
There is one original 1975 ad that I am not able to find anywhere. I did find it as a poster, but I am still looking for the original ad (or a high-resolution scan). Does anyone have this original ad or a magazine with this ad and is willing to sell it (or scan it and sell me the scan)? This is one of the best Jaguar XJ-S ads.
I well remember that. It was in every UK newspaper when the car was launched. It's relatively easy to find original copies of the advert. UK ebay www.ebay.co.uk is your friend!
Kinda funny how they called it the XJS and not XJ-S.
The corporate brand management dude was in the bathroom when they designed the ad :-). The XJS vs. XJ-S is not even consistent on the car itself. The emblem on the back says XJ-S while the stamp in the engine compartment next to the serial number says XJS.
Thats better than when they were referring to it as the "S-type." My dad still calls them that sometimes, as he was working on E-types in the 80's and apparently people used the term back then.
To me an S-type is the 60s saloon car or the 2000s POS, the XJS was never an S-type long enough to count IMO.
The best ad I saw I had cut it out around 1977-78 when I could only wish to own an XJ-S. It stated the new XJ-S back then guaranteed a comfortable ride at 100 MPH. over the legal speed limited. If anyone can find this ad I would appreciate a copy.
Thanks
