XJS 4.0 Oil Pressure Switch
Is this an easy job? Mine is leaking like a sieve. How easy is it to get the switch out of the block? I've removed the air filter and can see the switch but I can't get a spanner (sorry wrench) onto it. Do I need to remove the oil filter housing too?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Oil Pressure Sensor - 95 XJS 4.0
I just went through this with my '95 XJS 4.0. The oil pressure sensor that drives the gauge was a 19mm on mine. I had to drop the starter to get enough room to get the wrench on the sensor and remove. It might be possible using a 19mm crowfoot with a small breaker bar to get at it without removing the starter. The problem I had was the wrench (built with a straight shaft) would hit the lower edge of the block and prevent the open end from seating on the bolt head that is just under the sensor bulb. If the open end was at an angle to the wrench shaft it probably would have worked without removing the starter.
Now that I have said all this, are you trying to replace the oil pressure switch or the oil pressure sensor to the gauge? The oil pressure switch can be removed with a deep socket.

I had a leaking oil switch (assuming this might be the same thing you are discussing)...it is a switch that screws right into the engine (when facing it head on, that would be to the right and down front). Mine was leaking like a sieve and I could get it ti thread again...nor could I find a replacement part. I was way the heck out of town...so I took epoxy and glued it back into place. This occurred 4 years ago. I haven't had a problem or a leak since.
