Default XJS 5.3 V12 Injector Seals

Hi Guys

Where can I get some Injectors Seals at a reasonable price. XJS 5.3 V12

Main Dealer around £33 for 12

Also had quotes for around £24 for 12

That does seem quite expensive for 12 little 'O' rings

Any ideas?

I think they are just under 15mm but probably squashed out in use.

Look for the one noted for "XJS V12"

Should be one in there...

And a btw.: how did you manage to open the injectors? I still want to do mine yet...

I picked some up from a uk supplier recently very cheap. Hold on I will check where it was from.

Edit: EAC2415:

I paid £0.60 each.
Assuming you are talking about the 'sealing' ones between injectors & manifold.

You are an absolute 'Trouper!' that just what I've been looking for!

How can anyone charge around £2 for a tiny little rubber 'O' ring £24 for 12

Even the Part Number is the same.

I've tried everywhere to find them at that price

Looks like the Jaguar Gods have come to the Rescue

Thanks Again

Hi Daim

I did all mine on the Rail without taking them off.

You will need a Spare Electric Injector Plug (although you could manage without but its a PIA to do it without)

On the end of those wire 2 X Small Crocodile Clips

Also a 9 volt PP9 Torch Type or Radio Battery and a 12 volt Car Battery

An Air Compressor (set to minimum pressure)

An Aerosol Can of Wynns Carburettor Cleaner

The FPR that attaches to 'B' Bank

Fit the FPR to the 'B' Bank side of the Fuel Rail (all this does is stop the Air escaping)

You could attach the Air Line to where the 'A' Bank FPR goes or just hold it on but Not Yet!

First get the Carburettor Cleaner and try and fill the rail up or at least get a fairly good quantity of it in there.

Then turn the Fuel Rail on its side to try and make sure the Injector you are Testing has got plenty of Carb Cleaner in the Hose that connects it to the Fuel Rail.

Put the Spare Electric Plug on the Injector you want to Test (or unblock)

Then Hold your Air Line on the Connection where the 'A' Bank FPR would normally go at very low pressure (or you might blow a hose off)

Then with One of the wires from the Spare Connector attached to the Negative of the PP9 Battery.

Jab the other Wire on the Positive Terminal of the PP9 Battery but only for a Second or you 'Could' burn out the Coil.

The Injector should Squirt straight away but if it doesn't Mark it with a Felt Tip Pen.

Do the same with All the Injectors one at a time on one side of the rail, then turn the rail over on its other side and do exactly the same with the other Six Injectors.

Marking any of them that do not Squirt.

During this Testing you may have to continue topping up the Fuel Rail with Carb Cleaner.

Basically what you are doing is trying to get some Carb Cleaner into the Hose of the Injector you are Testing, or it will have nothing to Squirt.

Hopefully they will all Squirt the Instant that you Jab the wire on the PP9 Battery.

But what do you do if you find one that seems dead and doesn't Squirt or even Click?

Blast the Tip of the Injector with Carb Cleaner from the Aerosol Can.

This should free it up and you should hear it click as you do it.

Then Test it again with the PP9 Battery.

If that doesn't work then Test it again only this time using the 12 volt Battery

Just a one Second 'Dab' of Power is all you need, DON'T leave it connected or you will burn out the Coil in the Injector.

Sometimes an Injector, won't respond to 9 volts and may need a 12 volt kick to get it to Squirt.

But what if that doesn't work?

Tap the Metal Part of the Injector with a very small hammer, to try and free the internals of the Injector.

Then keep squirting the Tip and Tapping and Testing and eventually the Injector should start Squirting.

If the Injector still won't go (very unlikely) then you could always take it off the rail and maybe swap it over with a Spare one.

I had Six that were stuck like glue and wouldn't even click but eventually I managed to free them all off.

Unless you want to pay over £200 to have the job done properly with professional cleaning, which I didn't.

Your Money Your Car Your Choice.

I would not use a 12v battery, the injectors will draw 4amps (48watts) and get HOT. You will destroy the injector if left too long.

A 1.5v battery should be enough to pick the injector.

Since we are not measuring the output, while doing the procedure note the spray pattern. A partly plugged nozzle will show a poor pattern which could cause a lean cylinder. It should show a fine conical mist rather than being uneven and spitting. You will know it when you see a good one.
