XJS Boot/Trunk Condensation

XJS Boot/Trunk Condensation
Hi,
My XJS suffers with condensation in the boot, I have always thought it was because it is a big piece of metal which would automatically suffer from temperature change. It is quite a problem so I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or knew of a way to solve it? I know on the Ford models they have a complete cover but would have thought this only masks the problem.
Cheers

Are you sure its condensation and not a leak somewhere? My XJS, same model/year as yours, sits outside for the past ~5 years in cold and wet uk and the only water in the trunk is from a tiny leak from the drain area in the top right corner just below the rear screen. It will drip from there into the battery tray and water will sit in there because the tray drain is badly positioned and that's the reason its so difficult to find an XJS battery tray in good condition.
You can find some info re the boot here:

Is the car stored inside or outside? If the car is stored outside you can guarantee it’s a leak.
if the car is stored inside it might just be the same water condensing again and again. In the spring around here the garage will be cold and dry, then when I open the garage door is the warm humid air comes in so fast everything get soaking wet.
I would take the car outside on a warm dry day and leave the trunk lid open for 12 hours in the sun. That will get rid of any residual dampness, and stop your condensation precipitation cycle

Remove the carpet cardboard things around the (interior) antenna and tail light areas to check for water, maybe pull all the trim and start looking. What you can do if your determined is buy some automotive leak dye and get a black light you will find it quicker that way.
My XJS antenna grommet leaked, I'd check there first if no obvious boot seal issues.

Water condensation sufficient to form drops on the underside of the trunk lid seems unlikely without a lot of moisture present in there already.
Down in the rear quater panels panels can become flooded and quietly hold water for a long time between rains. Like a camels hump, but not. Check there.
