XJS a drivers dream

XJS a drivers dream
Well what can I say about the XJS that hasn't already been written!! Having been the proud owner of a brand new XJS V12 Convertible in 1990 till 1995 and reluctantly parting with it due to corrosion I am now pleased to let everybody know I've purchased a real beauty once more from Clarkes the XJS specialist. It's a 1994 V12 6.0 ltr Convertible in British Racing Green. I hadn't driven one since 1997 but after picking up and driving back to Suffolk I realised why I had such fond memories. The car drives superb and is so smooth, I feel like a child with a new toy. Have to confess when I got home I loaded up the CD player and just sat in the garage listening to the Bee Gees and David Bowie while reminiscing about just how much the XJS had influenced my life.a truly magical experience and will never be without one of these classy motors in my fleet ever again...........Confession to make I love that convertible so much that today I've just bought a 1991 XJS V12 Le Mans to add to the stable. Can't wait to pick it up Thursday so it's two Christmases in two months. One happy man that hopes your XJS's are giving you as much pleasure :-D.

I know exactly what you mean, I too simply love how my '89 XJS convertible handles and rides, so much that my big touring motorcycle does not get hardly any saddle time at all. Today a group of us cruised to St.Andrews-by-the-sea for a Canada Day parade and Show&Shine, and the comments and interest was nicely surprising.
They're classy cars.

I am 45 tomorrow. No XJS yet. Planning on the late 6 litre one day however.
I remember reading a road test, possibly Autocar, it matters not now.
It was about 1990.
They compared the new 'GTs' available at the time - XJS, 928, AMV8, SL500, and a Ferrari.
The 2 things that stick in my mind:
1. Wherever they went , EVERYBODY (onlookers) gravitated to the Aston - it stood out as somehow different (in the old handbuilt days)
2. The XJS was by far the best overall GT for comfort, smoothness, all-round 'GT-ness' (my word)
2 of my schoolmates had a bet in 1986 - who would be the first to own their dream car? One wanted a Countach, the other an XJS. Neither has fulfilled the bet yet...
I know which I will get.
