XJS hatchback conversion
I hope this isn't a repost, but I came across this XJS hatchback advertised in Kent and thought you guys might be interested. It's not a bad idea, the only thing is that I think the hatchback and rear lights have been lifted from a Citroën Xantia
For the uninitiated, a Xantia looks like this:

Not a fan... the buttresses, orange segment window, and art deco tail lights are some of my favorite XJS features.
I don't see the point of this exercise. You have gained nothing: If the spare is installed, you have lost room. If the spare isn't installed, you've lost a spare and gained a questionable amount of space, at best.
If you absolutely need an 80s vintage gran turismo with a hatchback, snag a Porsche 928.

Yuk. Looks like the result of a deviant experience involving an XJS, a Lumina and a Pacer.
It's a neat idea, but the shooting brake variant looks much better:
I'd sure like to build a replica shooting brake. Those things were clean.
Still, I always applaud an attempt to do something different. If that's what it takes to keep a car on the road and out of a junk yard, so be it. To the driver goes the fun.
The more I look at it, the more I think a nice single-tone paint job in a modern color would make it look far, far better. It may just be the red and black paint that's killing it.
As an example, I'm really digging the red on this shooting brake. It almost looks like the color Land Rover calls "Alveston Red". On the home grown hatchback, a metallic paint would really clean things up.
