I agree with Steve M. It is a "SHE". I've always believed the "S" in the "XJS" stood for
"She".
Although with some work under the hood "She" can be transformed into a "He".
Things like turbos and Nitro injectors and fender flares for wider wheels do some
masculine type transformations !
I do wonder though, if a "Lump" makes a "She" into a "He"?
Regards and P O R - Press On Regardless
"She".

Well, this should be a suitably offensive and divisive posting. Let's see if I can stir the pot a bit; shall we?
I've always thought the convertibles seem to have a feminine aesthetic, and, they tend to draw comments like: "Cute, Pretty, Gorgeous, etc.". However, to me, the coupes have a decidedly male persona, and garner such comments as: "Sharp, Cool, Sleek, etc.".
The convertibles are really pretty dull, stylistically speaking. They are just kinda straight, flat, and ho-hum from nose to tail. Their major design element being a cloth top that goes up and down (yawn). On the other hand, the coupes have one of the most dramatic styling ques in the automotive world, the famous flying buttress, offering both, visual interest, and the functionality of strengthening the chassis.
Additionally, The vast majority of racing XJS are coupes, while convertibles are much better suited to such things as leisurely cruising a scenic highway, with a charming lady either behind the wheel, or, adorning the Connolly Leather passenger seat.

Never tried to ascribe gender to my many critters of the past
four score years of dealing with them?
And, today's gender recognition makes it an impossible task.
The boat guys tend to the female side for names and reference.
Might be a parallel. Money pit. Best days in life. when one bought it and then when one sold it. 'it' used as an avoidance of a gender reference.
And, do I like gals, definitely.
