OB you are right XJS is a "CULT CAR", nobody in ther right mind would serieously use one for cross country USA driving, year after year, without plenty of money when something simple needs repairs.
garages charge big money just because it a JAGUAR.
my wifes Japanese car is now 12yrs old , bought new and have spent around $1000. dollars on it. a daily driver, 150K miles.

You need to be more than a driver to own one of these as although they are very reliable once they have been sorted out, as this Forum demonstrates, when they throw up a problem, it can be a big one.
That would drive a 'normal' motorist over the edge, where we reagardless of our skills, won't give up and let these problems beat us and while I wouldn't want to 'temp providence'
Its very satisfying to get stuck in and sort those problems out, without simply throwing money at it, in the way that other people do.
As after all its what makes you feel part of the Car and no amount of money could ever part me from my XJS.
Its an 'Iconic Cult Car' that soon becomes part of your Life and stands on its own as the kind of a Car, that can snap knicker elastic at 200 yards.
