XJS Parking Brake
1994 XJS 4.0L ......... the cable seems to be frozen ................... i will blame it on the good wife who pulls on the handle like mad to lower the top ............. have the plastic cover off and I do restore British Cars so I know my way around ......... is there a work around to lower the top but NOT set the Parking Brake... kinda a dumb idea
Will eventually remove parking brake shoes which I know is "incorrect" but heck you only live once LOL
Thoughts ???????

Yes, you can wire the top to raise and lower without needing the brake on. Find the black/green wire from the module, and across the connector it goes to a black/white wire in the harness. With a very fine pick you can release the catch that holds the metal part into the plastic connector body and slide the wire out.
From the junkyard, I took another connector ( from a Ford I think) that was the same width, as there are various width of pins and sockets; and made a mating portion and grounded that wire. The harness wire is a male pin, you'll need a female socket from another connector. Now the top module thinks the handbrake is always applied and I can raise or lower the top whenever I want.
Doing it this way doesn't disturb the original harness, and it can be put back to standard simply by sliding the wire back into the connector.
