xjs radio not working

Default xjs radio not working

I just bought a 95XJS. It has a couple of minor problems but nothing major. I believe the radio is original. There is no power to the radio or the CD changer in the trunk. I found the fuse for the radio in the fuse box next to the battery in the trunk. The fuse is fine. Is there an inline fuse to the radio and if there is how do I get at it? I would like to get this radio working before I decide to replace it.

Welcome to the forum tcarby. You need to post a tech type question over in the appropriate XJS section, but if there is an inline fuse it will almost certainly be somewhere behind the radio or in the line near the CD player.

Could it be the fuse referred to here on Sean's site??

There is an inline 2A (TDC 91) fuse under the centre console for the radio (although the factory service manuals call it a 1A (this may be a function of the difference between US and UK ratings standards) and place it "behind the stereo"). I found this after the new stereo popped it (requiring me to disassemble the console while following the power lead). On my LHD version, the fuse is on the driver side of the shifter assembly, and was wiretied to a bundle and taped to another (ie, you have to untape it to get a fuse in and out, AND it is tight working because there isn't a lot of play with the wire).
