I wouldn't scare someone away from an XJS, but there are some whom I wouldn't recommend owning one. They require a certain dedication, not unlike some women I know, and when neglected they can cause just as much heartache.

I'm quite sure other XJS owners who read this will understand exactly what I mean.

Default XK8 vs XJS

i owned a 2003 XK8 in very good shape and sold it and purchased a 1995 white convertible 6 cyl XJS (again in very good shape) and in my mind there is no comparison, the XJS has it beat. Looks wise, much more classic look and feel and the ride the XJS provides is unbelievable. My XK8 was unreliable, had electronic issues and in my opinion looks too much like other sports cars, the XJS is unique. Just my opinion!

This is "The Best XJ-S On The Planet" but that's my opinion because I'm bias, It's mine

88-90 should be the motormouse seatbelts? They WILL fail and they will NOT be repaired despite federal intervention telling Jaguar they need to cover these under warranty as a safety item for perpetuity. Or so I heard.

Look a little older and you can have perfection for less money, a little newer and you'll have...a little newer car for this price range.

I think for the years of the cars you posted, each of them is a couple grand overpriced unless they truly are perfect. That 3.6/5spd is intriguing but it's also the most expensive of the lot.

The 89 Black on Black for $9750 hands down. Get him down to $7k, and spend the difference on refreshing fluids, belts, hoses, and other rotting rubber components.

you should really look at this one on ebay.

seems like it is ready to go, ie all of the updated bits and pieces that most of us are in the process of completing have already been done.

and i'm pretty sure the reserve (if any) is going to not be much higher than the starting bid.

i saw this one on the LA craigslist a while back, and on ebay, where it got no hits. then when i was ready to pull the trigger, i couldn't find it anywhere.

anyhow, check it out. not sure if the location would work for you.

Those miserable motorized belts are on late-88 thru -89 coupes. In 1990 an airbag was installed so the belts went away.

I understand the dislike for motorized belts, I think. Is it primarily because they eventually break and Jaguar are reticent regarding repair status? Or is it just the fact that they are motorized?

Nevertheless, both of mine have / had them. Still working on the current one. As they say, makes yer choice and pay the man... mouse motor seat belts or an ugly airbag steering wheel.

M90, what is the final vision for your Jag?

- cragars
- glass packs
- race seats
- etc.

Is this gonna be a track monster?
