Rear hatch area complete!
The intersection between the top of the rear seat and the angled panel with fabric center (mimicking a old stereo) was nearly as hard as welding in the 280Z hatch-I'm not joking. AND, dealing with the sides of the top of the back seat was difficult because they are hidden on a stock XJS but are visible through the side windows on the Shooting Brake. I hand sewed in leather pieces that cover pieces of foam-I'm not entirely pleased with result but will live with it. On my next Shooting Brake...

You can see pieces of wood at the top of the rear seat at the ends and in the middle. These are anchors to screw in the back faux speaker panel to anchor the top of the seat to the top of speaker panel. My initial engineering plan was a piece of metal on the speaker panel that "hooked" onto a bracket glued and riveted on the seat back but this didn't align the pieces well and ripped the bracket out of the seat back particle board material when I was adjusting it. Engineering from scratch is hard.

But final product is complete, I'd rate it as 6.5 out of 10.

Bumper, light, crunched corner under bumper and a small crease at front of quarter.
Not my fault, city bus turned too tight behind me, catching the corner, hoping that estimate comes back big and pays a little of the restoration.
I've got the bumper off and started reworking the corner and plan to fix ASAP.
But man does it suck to have to do this after having it on the road for only a few trips.

Adjustor came out Thursday and took photos, estimate should be in next week. I'm eager to see what estimate is.(I better make some money!!) in the meantime I became crazed with the idea of having to make the repairs and worked half day Thursday dismantling, and then all day Friday and today repairing. The quarter had some tiny creases in the front near the door and under the gas cap. I pulled the corner roughly into shape, cut out a section of the corner from my parts car, welded that in and then epoxy primer, some filler and hi build primer. Then sprayed it Saturday night. Still have to find bumper ends and a tail light.

That's a fine compliment. I HATE doing work twice and so the thought of more bodywork and paint made me crazed and I used this motivation to get it done ASAP. Its like a time machine for me, repair is complete and now I'm back where I was....
